So if I walk up and punch you in the face and then turn and run can you legally pull your gun and shoot me in the back.....
Not really comparable. This guy was already stopped for illegal activity, attacked the cops, and then stole their weapon. So he was a dangerous criminal on the run. If you came up and punched me out of nowhere you would just be an A hole lol

Doesn't matter if you're blue, purple, yellow, orange, black, or white... If you run away from the cops, resist arrest, try to steal their weapons, and assault them in the process, you're gonna get what you deserve. This situation is completely different from George Floyd. Shooting the guy in the back definitely wasn't the right move by the cops however it wasn't racially motivated and then again it's easy to say that it was wrong to shoot the guy when you're sitting behind a keyboard trying to be an armchair cop and actually not in the heat of the moment, risking their life to protect the world from idiots like said dude in Atlanta.

How in the world if this happened at 11:30 or midnight could protestors form and make their way there in less than a hour? Hmm

Seriously lol....what do you think happened....do you know anything about the area around this Wendy`s....could their be neighborhoods and apt complexs there so that its easy to have a crowd gather.....there is a Cook Out here in town that is near two big apt complexs designed to house EU students and there is literally a 50-100 people hanging out around there after the bars close every night and could easily have 100`s more walk over in a matter of mins....

He got shot killing him probably wasn’t the intention. But this guy took the risk when he acted this way. Case of bad luck

Just very odd that at midnight or after you have a large gathering of people and you can hear by the video saying things about oppression, etc right at an active crime scene.

Cops are not judge or jury, what `he deserved` is not for them to decide....I agree this probably was not racially motivated, and it is different from Floyd. However the cops have to make sure when they use lethal force it is because lives are in clear and present danger. Shooting a man in the back while he is running away makes that a tough sell. Hopefully some information or video comes out that sheds light on that....

Drunks can be/are extremely dangerous doesn't matter if he's a criminal or not.

Sure I have seen it live and in person many times, I ran several bars in downtown Greenville NC ( ECU ) in the early to mid 90`s, I know all about drunks. That said I saw dozens, hell maybe hundreds of people resist arrest fighting cops etc.....never saw them shoot anyone.

Hopefully there will be something that shows that these officers were justified in using deadly force in this event....

1. He was Drunk
2. He stole the cops taser

Those two things are justification enough. This guy could have hurt or killed a innocent person.

No one wants to take responsibility for any of their actions anymore they automatically want to blame it on someone else, another race, or God.

Hmmm neither of those things are capital offenses in the US......again maybe this was a legitimate shoot but its always questionable when cops shoot men running away from them....and it should be.

The police reported the man was shot while struggling for control of the taser....the video suggest otherwise...

Its systemic and its not that individual white people actively promote it, but the average white person also has no idea how stacked the system is....black people by the design of the system are not able to change the systemic racism it will take everyone to do so. We need to see less of white people telling blacks to buck up and work harder etc, whites are quick to point out black success stories but they ignore the millions of blacks that are as qualified that were held up or blocked by the system. This feeds back into the low self esteem and personal worth issues many blacks suffer from and just creates a vicious feedback loop, sure some breakthe cycle but until their are wholesale changes in the system the majority of blacks will not have the same wealth or access to success that white people have....

I disagree a lot of white people really do think blacks are lazy and dont work as hard or that they bring it on themselves etc....

I agree with some of your points, for example, that the average white person probably doesn't realize how hard it can be for the average black citizen. But that is not because they are racist; it's probably because they haven't really thought about it or been exposed to it. On the other hand, I could say the average black citizen may well think it is far easier for the average white person than it really is. White people are certainly not all born into wealthy "privileged" situations where everything is handed to them; there a lots and lots of white people whose situations are worse than a lot of black people's situations. "We need to see less of white people telling blacks to buck up and work harder etc, whites are quick to point out black success stories but they ignore the millions of blacks that are as qualified that were held up or blocked by the system." This is fair enough, but can't the other side of that also be fair? We need to see less of black people telling whites it's all their fault etc; blacks are quick to point out the high life stories (and racist stories) of whites but they ignore the millions of whites that are as qualified but held up or blocked by that same system.

AS for the self-esteem loop, I completely agree. That is why I think it is so important to empower people rather than to victimize them.

"I disagree a lot of white people really do think blacks are lazy and dont work as hard or that they bring it on themselves etc..."

Yeah, there are some white people that do believe this but I think this is too broad a brush, and I've seen it both ways. My first job ever in high school was working for a black couple who owned a small business. They are probably the hardest working couple I have ever known. They were dedicated and principled, and worked tirelessly. I can say they truly taught me about work ethic and professionalism on the job. I have always had the highest respect and love for them. On the other hand, I have also seen black people on other jobs that truly were poor workers and could actually be described as "lazy." But then again, I've seen that with all races. It's too broad a brush. Most people I know, not all mind you, give more credit than that.

Atlanta Police Chief also resigned....

Without even waiting for the full facts to come out? Our leaders now bend to the will of rash mob rule?

Who’s gonna save us, democracies fatal weakness is the risk of mob rule . We need a brash authoritarian for a little while. Somebodies got to restore rule of law, peace, and unity .

There trying to take polices balls away. This entire country has been nurtured very unfortunate!

This absolutely blows . Great read from “The Atlantic”. Taking my subjective glasses off and looking at America objectively I can see that we have a president who appeals to mob rule, opponents who also do the same. The founding fathers worst nightmare come true. Our leaders need to take decisive action to allow cool heads to prevail. We can all start on ourselves for one . Only very few people on here , a very small minority ( I don’t think I am among this minority ) , truly are cool headed and able to see through all the smoke and confusion . I hope to be able to better myself for one and control my impulses of passion and trade some of it ( god knows I got too much passion , can afford to trade ) for a bit more level headedness. I dabble a bit in the political world and have aspirations . Actually a bit acquainted with Dan Forests field director who I recently emailed about getting involved with so that’s something.

We can be the change we want to see.

Populism and Mob rule

Just saw the video of last night's shooting and yeah idk. He was resisting arrest and started to run away with a taser. The fact that he was shot while he was running away does look bad (and it is a shame that we had a death here, don't get me wrong), but I'm leaning towards that one eventually being determined to be officer justified. It's close though.

What happened to George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery is still wrong however and since this one is in a gray area, Atlanta probably is going to burn tonight.

If the latest numbers are indeed worse he could actually make a much more effective point by using them... that’s why it’s dumb to use the old 2016 data. If the latest data proves his point even more then why not use it?
Because a lot of us have seen our wages go up 20% since 2016 as well as keep more disposable income thanks to lower taxes. We all (working folks) have gained wealth. Better off than 3 and half years ago -pre -March 2020

Its easy to say stuff like this, however I agree with it to a extent, but until white America stops pretending that there is not a huge gap on many levels and blaming blacks for their economic and societal issues it wont change much.

good explanation of what blacks are facing....

At $171,000, the net worth of a typical white family is nearly ten times greater than that of a Black family ($17,150) in 2016. Gaps in wealth between Black and white households reveal the effects of accumulated inequality and discrimination, as well as differences in power and opportunity that can be traced back to this nation’s inception. The Black-white wealth gap reflects a society that has not and does not afford equality of opportunity to all its citizens.
I dont blame Blacks, I blame liberal / Democrat goverance that have led the sheep to the slaughter with nothing but emotional talk to swoo votes. Unfortunately majority continue to drink the kool aid. However a growing number are waking up to this

Wouldn’t be surprised if many APD officers walk away. Mayor obviously doesn’t have their back here, hence why the police chief “resigned”. She immediately fired the officer. The officer was attacked and then had his own weapon used against him, so the suspect didn’t even have his back turned.

As my RedState colleague Nick Arama reported, the attempts in Nashville and Chicago by protesters to set up “autonomous zones” similar to the one that was set up in Seattle in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd have not gone so well.
The situation Friday night in Asheville, North Carolina was no different. Except in this case we have videos of the police department actually dismantling the encampment not long after occupiers in the area attempted to set it up.

Here’s how the situation played out on social media. Note the excitement and hype:

Autonomous zone going up in Asheville NC. People are needed now! Please share this if you can't be here. Supplies also needed. Lexington is the road, right under 240. Look for the flashing police lights. #Asheville #autonomouszone #ashevillenc #az #acab #chaz #ashevilleaz #wnc
