Oh yeah, you're far enough north you got crushed in 2014 by the ULL, didn't ya? I actually forgot how good CLT-proper did with that one, as well. I guess this one isn't a slam dunk to top that (7-8" it looks like?).

2014 was fun but I was slightly bummed that one where we had a real shot at 20 inches got lowballed by that middle sleet bomb for 8 hours.

Warm noses are a real PITA.

Same. It started a little earlier than expected, which got hopes up for something truly historic, then we changed over to sleet quicker than expected (of course). Ended with ~8". The next day, the foothills get obliterated by the ULL passing and we got fringed for another inch or so from that. The biggest storm in my time following weather but not 100% satisfying. February 2015 might've been one of the more satisfying ones given we met / exceeded expectations, it was all-snow, etc.

Dang, as many people as we still have from back in the day, your list makes it clear we've lost some, too. :( Burger moved to the Netherlands, right? Back then, I was on AmericanWx and TalkWeather! It's easier now with a one-stop shop!

I've never seen so many 20"+ runs for MBY. Of course, we ended up with 8".

Was never able to shake that Marine smile, even on the heals of big snows. It only shows up in photos for some reason.

Just need a blizzard warning for the OBX to make this an all timer for Winter type advisories from MHX.

Why havent they pulled the trigger on a blizzard warning? Are they expecting to much rain mixing in the first half of the storm?

Don't know tbh, maybe they are holding out to see if the SN threshold will be met. It's also a 12-18hr lead product, so maybe not within the range. Unlike most winter wx products, blizzard criteria is standardized between all WFOs.

Oh yea I remember “She’s out to 72/96 aaaaand BOOM” They phased lol Burger and WoW on the PbP was always legit. Nerves are setting in now…. I’m coming to grips this may legit happen….. first time since 2014 CLT metro may actually have a foot plus somewhere. I only got 9” in Dec 2018 so we’re here now, time to reel it in

Surely we don’t fumble here right ? I mean I feel like a LOCK for 8” at this point. Avg across all 13….10.7” take 25% off its 8.1”

Anybody seeing real snow positives the Triangle in last 6hrs? Just seem to be depleting circumstances. Maybe I'm wrong

We are an odd location….we never really jackpot but we always seem to be in the game. We are fortunate that we seem to get the 1-3” events but the heavy snows just miss. This one is more of the same…I think folks east and west of us see 10”+ and we will be fighting for 2-3”.

The NAM got better and the AIGFS. After the insane runs last night, it’s definitely taken a step back, though. Definitely worried we could be spiraling towards a 1-3” event.

Well fwiw that little snow band along the border seems to be overperforming. While some models were showing it, I don't think they really were showing accumulations with it and I've heard it's starting to coat the ground in places

That was a fun one to track. Then the sleet started that night and thought it was another bust. Wake up the next morning and it's vomiting snow. In about 3 hrs 6 inches dropped. I must have been in a micro snowhole as I only measured around 9".

Up in Mt Ulla now after seeing NC_Hailstorm had the better measurements every storm, lol.

Does anyone notice the Lift in SC and this Rouge band TN/NC/VA trying to connect? I swear it looks like they’re drifting into each other

Are we really going to reel this one in? I still can’t bring myself to think we will. Someone give me some encouragement. lol.
Areas around us will see a foot for real , the cams all have insane banding from the ull pouring over us tomorrow, this is the one

My Hwy 49 crew from me (Gibsonville) south.

We……uhhh, wanna talk about this? Cause if my layman self understands, that’s a pretty sweet spot to be under.

Ive been preaching. Hwy 49 corridor from uncc to Asheboro, perhaps burlington is gonna be the sweet spot, when all is said an done espeacilly between badin lake back down to wow's area.

Feeling pretty confident I'm going to wake up in the morning and still see ground and nothing falling when I expected to see at least a dusting in progress.

Well, we still have the ice from last weeks storm in spots. I was hoping for snow to go with it but the latest model runs are giving the Triangle the middle finger. Let's hope that dry slot doesn't materialize and the NWS forecast for six to ten inches is spot on. Good luck!

Maybe you’re too young to remember it, but the Carolina Crusher is called that because RDU (not GSO, CLT, PGV, etc.) got 20 inches! So jackpots are possible there. And some decent snows soon after too.
