Death toll is gonna be very high. Wouldn't be surprised to see 15-20k as the toll of weather and the cold speeds up time to rescue the trapped. They just don't have the time they would have had if it was summer.

The earthquake was timed perfectly with a pretty harsh cold blast for the region. By harsh I mean some lows in the 20s inland and highs in the 40s. Pretty cold. Athen Greece recieved snow which is rare.

Yeah that's just not good for those trapped. The elements will take lives that could have otherwise been saved. Just a tragic earthquake in a very populated areas.

Probably more sadly. That quake was huge and the building structures in Turkey aren’t the most up to date.

Saw a report that Turkey was pushed in to the fault about 2.6ft. That’s crazy stuff.

Not only that but to have so many big aftershocks. A 5.0 by itself is pretty significant but to have 30 or 40 them plus another couple in the 6-7 range is crazy.

While still an immense tragedy the death toll numbers have slowed and are not jumping up as fast as they had been.
