All stems to the first thing that dumps west (that trough around the PNW) it pulls back the ULL that tries to go east and builds heights out East

The period never had any real cold behind it .. I mean it’s an ensemble mean of 55-60 for most in the SE from the first pic .. wouldn’t really call that a cold look
