Honestly, how often do we get anafronts in winter? I think the last time was December 2010?
This is so sad Columbia,SC Is the only place that hasn't seen anything but a trace from this damn storm.. It's getting to the point of No Return for us. What would it TAKE!!

Nothing, we live in the arm pit of hell. Only thing we get is 5 months straight of 115 degree heat indexes. Ain't no one going to feel sorry for us. People on here complaining about only getting 4 inches of snow when they were supposed to get 6 and we are over here begging for a inch. Pretty much tells you what you need to know my man. I'm disappointed too and definitely frustrated.This is so sad Columbia,SC Is the only place that hasn't seen anything but a trace from this damn storm.. It's getting to the point of No Return for us. What would it TAKE!!

Awesome hope it piles up quick.... temp down to 26 but basically just flurries now, even though radar returns don't look horrible. 2.5 as of now

Just SW of RDU at roughly 6" as of an hour ago. Compacted too. Would guess if we had been at 30F or below for the core of this we would be at 10". Great event, still snow moderately and temp is at 30F and dropping.

I don't think anyone outside of the upstate and the northern midlands/north CSRA received more than a trace of snow at least thinking about SC and the NWS region I'm in, the moisture certainly wasn't an issue but I was surprised, despite the rates of snow I was getting for a few stretches it never responded and truly started sticking due to it being 35 degrees. If it would have I'm sure I would have seen about 1/2-3/4th of an inch of snow like others in Middle Georgia did (aka a heavy dusting lol).
I thought in 2016 I had a temporary dusting with temps never getting to freezing but I just looked and saw I was wrong, it did get there.
Nonetheless, this wasn't going to be a high accumulation storm anywhere really in Georgia. I'll take my snow TV and congrats to North Carolina, they got their big dog. I'm still more jealous that I didn't get to experience that dry snow again, that was a surreal experience when I did and would have loved to do it again.

Great storm!! 7 inches here in NW Chatham Co. Western parts of the county around Siler City got 8. Not sure if anyone here is around the Fearrington area of Chatham, but heard they have 8 plus by w.o.m.
Very pleased with this winter, its like a return to the winters I had growing up in the 70's and early 80's, when you could count on a decent snowstorm every year without question. The southern piedmont usually scores with ice storms, but pure snow this winter. Its great!!

No doubt we lost a lot of snow accumulation due to melting, even in the heart of the storm. Had we had surface temps below freezing, this might have been a 10-12 inch storm.

That area back around Greensboro appears to be expanding with the actual ull, doesn't appear models have picked up on that too well.... will be interesting to watch over next few hours.
Yeah I bet if heaviest snow happened at night and not mid afternoon we would have had a couple extra inches, but still a great storm
The precip moved in at a perfect time here in the upstate. We got up into the 50's on Tuesday then cloud cover moved in and we were locked in 20 degrees above freezing. The front stalled and that gave us time to drop to around 40 by 4'ish AM. Once the precip moved in we dropped to around 35 and the changeover to snow happened within an hour. We got most if not all of our accumulations sitting at 33-34 degrees. It just worked out this time

Nice deformation band is beginning to develop over and just west of Raleigh w/ 25-30 dBz, this should prolong the steady, moderate snowfall and increase the amounts here and probably push us over 6". The back edge of the snow has stalled over the Wake-Chatham county line as a consequence.

I measured only around .5 inches with this storm, but this was the first accumulating snowfall that I've experienced since January 29, 2014. Columbia is very similar to Central Georgia in the fact that we both tend to score marginally bigger than points west when a classic Miller A storm happens (think Feb. 2010, Feb. 1973, Feb. 1914 if you really want to go back in time) and it is extremely frustrating to see points to the west and north get more snow on a consistent basis. I've pretty much accepted the fact that places in Mississippi, Alabama, and even the Florida Panhandle are going to get more snow than me from a frequency standpoint, but the potential remains for locations such as ours to have a system that produces more. The good news is that we are extremely overdue for such an event to happen and I would say hypothetically that the chances of such a storm occurring in the next five years are above average. With all that being said, this system definitely over performed and I consider it a win to even see snow from a system such as one like this. I feel your frustrations immensely and hopefully February 1973 will decide to repeat it's self next month.This is so sad Columbia,SC Is the only place that hasn't seen anything but a trace from this damn storm.. You did a great job with this storm. Fishel was on air earlier saying that no model or data suggested anything close to 12”. They had a 4% chance of 4” or more up near the VA border two days ago. I understand probability forecasting, but I think it’s a double-edged sword in a way.
Anyway, I am approaching 4” in SE Wake. I guess we have a shot at 5 if the back edge stalls a bit.
