Wintry More SE Snow ? (1/16-1/18)

Strong uptick in short range guidance. I've upped my "Puking Snow Meter" to a 7. It's about to get real

Upstream radar looks really good for metro ATL, especially south including Tony! Later on maybe Chris and company in Macon! What a winter, a real winter for a change!

A dusting in Buckhead and things have died down for now.

Are temps in Columbia ever gonna reach freezing? I know it can snow and stick at 33 or 35 with good enough rates. But still that is worrisome.

Likely wont reach freezing until heavier precip falls. tbh (after precip for sure!)

No doubt. Great looking radar

Really good video, Chris! Our amazing winter continues ... for those who didn't see the video, Chris pointed out the developing precip downstream that is moving toward Central Georgia and the southern metro Atlanta area, and the Midlands. Going to be a very interesting night for sure.

You were trying hard...nice effort though.

I thought about throwing in a random annoying IMBY question, but the man was delivering the goods.

Thanks @deltadog03

Haha it's all good. He just didnt know who I was. He liked a comment from me, even! I just wanted people in SC to know that "green" on the HRRR was wrong and is ra/sn to snow.

the dry slot....a few icy patches....nothing signifcant
(and sorry, put that in the wrong thread)

It's fine. This is observation thread too. So the BMX snowhole officially verified for everyone else too?

I think the term dryslotted might be getting used a little too loosely around here. I can't speak for every section of the perimeter of Atlanta, but where I am it hasn't stopped snowing since it started a few hours ago, it just lighten up over the past hour. You can't be dryslotted if precipitation is still falling to the surface.

Also nice snowband developing in NE AL/far NW GA.

That band on radar that is running up along I-59 looks like it's intensifying... maybe?
Although it is very narrow

Lake Lanier snow shield holding strong. Nothing more than flurries so far. Radar returns consistently disappearing as they reach Cumming.
