You can see the decaying eyewall from when Milton was a Cat 4 this morning...new eyewall is a hot mess when the plane sampled the NE quad surface winds were Cat 1-2 at best...seems likely the feared swath of 100 mph gust across Florida is less likely now.

Yeah for all practical purposes, the eyewall doesn’t exist anymore. Probably anything a hundred miles or so north and east of center could see damaging winds, but the “core” is pretty much gone.

Why are you saying storm surge looking pretty meager? Are you referring to a particular location or overall?

I'm in disbelief at this tornado outbreak. Never seen anything like it down here, at least not in my lifetime.

The eye is going to have to get onshore before much surge can pour in. But like I said earlier in the week, I doubt anybody sees more than 6-8feet of surge with lack of a southern eyewall… a wide area will get some surge, but you won’t have that concentrated band of 12-15ft surge, imo.
