Probably underperformed on rain. Only got about 2 inches, when models were showing 3-5. Wind was predicted around spot on. ATL registered a 61 mph gust. Lost of tree damage and power outages.
Glenn Burns said the 61 mph gust in ATL was not the norm. He said most areas peaked around 40mphProbably underperformed on rain. Only got about 2 inches, when models were showing 3-5. Wind was predicted around spot on. ATL registered a 61 mph gust. Lost of tree damage and power outages.
It didn't even come close here in Alabama. The winds were way higher and stronger. Opal rocked us here where I live. We were without power for a week or more after Opal. Widespread power outages and trees down everywhere.
Lol that's a dumb statement by him obviously it wasn't the norm . The forecast for northern Georgia was spot on per the reports on here today. Glenn , lolGlenn Burns said the 61 mph gust in ATL was not the norm. He said most areas peaked around 40mph
I was watching that is not what he fully said.Glenn Burns said the 61 mph gust in ATL was not the norm. He said most areas peaked around 40mph
Yeah, I expected what I got as far as tree damage and winds. Power staying on was a huge plus.I think this storm did exactly what the forecast said with the exception of rain. The wind was a bit worse than Ivan but it as drier and colder for sure

Does anyone think this storm under performed in AL and GA ?
Yeah. Went outside a few times and when the rain hit me, it was just like a cold winter's rain. Wind still blowing here, but the worst is over I believe.I know one thing. It's FREEZING outside. It's crazy that it's September. It feels like winter outside to me.
Not looking forward to turning on the A/C again.
Me - just trees; across the street - tree in to the living room ceiling ...Hey Phil did you sustain any any structural damage? Or just trees?
Glad to hear your doing well considering the circumstancesMe - just trees; across the street - tree in to the living room ceiling ...
Thanks for asking - feel blessed ... but am gut wrenched from when I went into Gainesville proper today ... trees down everywhere, and I believe it was spinners the way things are twisted ...
Not that I like it, just that I acknowledge it. How can we help?Me - just trees; across the street - tree in to the living room ceiling ...

In my location, this was NOTHING compared to Opal. That woman was a -----!For those who experienced Opal, how would this compare ?
That's good RosieCats wanting my lap all day, no major wind here.
I lived in Dahlonega for a year. Beautiful area.Gusting to 62 from what I've seen so far, at the University of North Georgia, here in Dahlonega. It's unreal when these gusts come through. Can't imagine what y'all down in Florida went through, or the poor souls out on the Islands.
Opal had bigger winds thru me. Not sure they lasted as long. Don't remember the rain with opal, but I'm getting energetic rains well after the wind died downIn my location, this was NOTHING compared to Opal. That woman was a -----!
So sad for the victims, have many friends in S FL, so far all ok. Now I have a 3 cat lapThat's good RosieIt was a two cat day. Down here I think the rain is the big deal, and I thought it would be the wind. I've got 4 inches and probably another coming before the big rains end. The wind was like a good old fashioned cold front barrelling in with wind gusting over a steady blow...but lasting 5 hours, or so. I sat out on the porch the whole time and nothing flew by. It was kind of calming watching the tree tops blowing all round, knowing the cold air had killed the spinners, lol. But the people in Cuba and Fla./sGa. paid the price, and all that flooding on the east coast too. I feel fortunate with this one.
That last one is a particularly nice photo. Bet you'd sell a bunch it you framed them up. TMy home away from homecould have been worse for Hilton Head

Power just blacked out for a minute and came back. Spoke too soon.
