Historically, it's very rare for N GA to have significant impacts from a storm not coming from the Gulf. So I'm gonna side with history and say that N GA will be fine. I can't remember the last time N GA had significant impacts from a non-Gulf storm ?

Unique storm...

Typically I'd agree but irma has yet to follow set rules lol

Well that would be good if what your saying is right. But with this storm being so huge and powerful with all that energy waiting to release, i say NGa may get some rough winds.:(

Hate to say it, living in the southeast, this is somthing we face when it come to storms. I rather live up north.

How far west was the UK? The 12z NAVGEM was pretty similar to last night's run. Up the east coast of Florida.

And the nightmare track for Fl and Ga continues.... rides east coast and then NW across Ga

I can just about sound the all clear for mby, I should see very minimal impact.... I do hate to see that it's because it shifted west instead of east
I'm not sure. Even with the 12z tracks we could gust 45-50

Well, when the three storms came into Fla one after the other, they all came thru here, and tornadoes did the damage to the Atl RaceWay, tore up planes up there. Took down the high tension lines over my side area when it broke a pine off, and put the power out for the whole area, miles, for at least a day. Good thing was they had to fix me first, lol. Bad news was power lines down, trees down, lots of tornadoes spin up and do lots of 0 and 1 and 2 damage. So these things aren't fun, and a storm that's been a 5 just has a mean core :) I'd want this away from me but it's turning left just before it gets here on the 18z, and putting me on the east side. Not looking forward to it. T

I think you are more likely to get those then me, not that I'm complaining... still curious to see when these turns actually occur. Most big canes feel the weakness to turn poleward fairly quickly but are slower to respond to the tug of an ULL so I'm not convinced of any track until it actually turning. That hard NW slingshot effect I'm just not sold on yet.....

I was looking around on NOAA's site and found a map of all of the hurricane tracks over the past 150 years. I only see 3 that are similar to the UK/Euro/18 z GFS tracks. All were unnamed storms and occurred prior to 1940. As long as it stays out of the gulf and we are on the east side, we should be spared most of the carnage, I think.

If this local AccuWeather forecast even comes close to verifying, you and I will probably be speaking again in October (once power and internet are restored in Gainesville) -
