Irma has really been growing a lot in size today. I wonder how large it is now. I don't know if it was true, but I had heard either last night or early this morning it was about 700mi. in diameter.

Yeah, I thought that I would never be seeing a tropical storm on North Georgia, but it looks like we are about to get one.
I believe and remember Hurricane Opal still being a Cat 1 as she/he passed just to the west of Atlanta 20 years ago. I just looked it up and it was this week 20 years ago... Umh . eerie...
