Heavy rain band has been over Houston all day long. Most of the tornadic storms have been in east TX and south LA today but all of the gulf moisture is ample 2-8" more has fallen today especially at Houston. Flash flood warning...Prayers for the gulf coast.

I could see tomorrow turning a bit wetter than thought for Atlanta...seems like the front and combo with Harvey is pulling moisture up fast from the gulf. Been getting off and on drops here this evening.

GFS shifting more eastward now and south, with the track into Northern Mississippi/ Memphis area, and dumps tons of rain. Newest cone takes that path as well.

The record for total rainfall from a tropical system in the CONUS has been BROKEN! Mary's Creek at Winding Road recorded 49.20", previous record is 48".

stationary area of heavy rains impacting the warned area. Widespread
flooding is already occurring. High resolution forecast guidance
indicates another 10 to 15 inches of rain is possible over the
remainder of the night. This is a PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
