Wintry Machine Learning Mauler 1/30-2/1

The Lancaster band vs dry air aloft battle is raging right now for the metro. Still snowing really hard but tiny flakes. Not sure how much longer we can keep this up.

Just measured a bunch and have anywhere from 8 to 15 or so. Got 9ish on most flat but windblown tables/chairs. 10-10.5 in the grass. Nowhere near a jackpot but very happy.

I finished at 9”. I had people a couple miles away saying they had between 11-12” and we were all under the same bands. Places in northern Greenville county that didn’t get that last death band were sitting at 8” so I might be closer to that 11-12” mark. Just no way to know with all the snow drifts. I took mine on a table out in the center of the driveway to try and get the most accurate I could, but even it likely had some taken off the top tbh. But I’ll stick to my 9” measurement
4 to 4.5 west of you in Tigerville.

@Mitch West
Just not an enjoyable one here in CAE. Entire storm was summed up by 1 45 min burst of snow. Some back end snow working in now that might give us another inch, but I’ll unfortunately remember this one more so for the exciting days leading up to it rather than the day of the storm itself. Congrats to everyone that scored & for the Raleigh area filling things in & saving things at the last second.

I’m at 2 inches. Enjoy the night fam.
I’m glad that you got some either way man. What happened though? Last I looked at a map you guys down that way were supposed to get pasted with about 5inch right?

0Z Ob: 6.25 inches on the snow board since 18Z for a total of 8.45. But I don't think that is accurate because the wind has been blowing it around so much. Random spot check average around the yard comes out to about 9.25 sitting on the ground.

I'm not an expert in snow drifts, but the deepest snow spots without a backboard at 15-18 inches deep. If there is a backboard, its piled over 3 ft high!

Things are starting to wind down a bit here, lowest rates of the past 8 hours now. 20/18

Light returns over here but still a light snow. Looks to have pushed me to 1.5". HRRR insistent on another 2 to 3" overnight
The dry slots really cutting into anything major down here. Driveway and roads hasn't even folded yet. Probably 1/4 to 1/3 of an inch on grass so far. Think the airport recorded 0.6. Amazing what 15-20 miles difference does.

Picked up another 1" on the driveway in the last 90 minutes. I *think* that'll put me in the foot club, lol. I'm not putting my boots on anymore. It's still a lot of small flakes right now and have a couple hours of that I think. My work is complete.

Beep beep boop boop. Foot of snow for this human. Good night!

Ended at 11.5” here Mooresville NC Highway 152/Linwood Road @Webber 3 separate flat measurements off a flat board averaged

Finishes tied with 2004 where I also got 11.5”
Feb 2014 remains the King for now 12.5”. Screw it though I’m counting a foot what’s a 1/2 among friends.

Yeah I’m about 30 miles or so north of Charleston and only have 1” - 1.5” so far. The dry slots are killing us uggg.

i don't understand man. i understand the hesitancy to bring out the fine china but if theres ever a time its now

Per my in-laws scattered around Carteret and Craven counties they've been sweeping and shoveling almost nonstop. Legit drifts piling up 6+ inches against the door in 30 minutes.

Thats very accurate for Oconee county. I was dead nuts on 4 inches most spots measured. We drove toward Mountain Rest where it quickly doubled that 20 minutes away. I was worried this morning when I got up and there weren't any flurries or anything so all in all im happy with 4 inches. Still haven't gotten a 6 incher in decades at nearly 1000ft elevation. Columbia got it in 2010 and now Charlotte. Time to come back full circle one of these winters hopefully.
