Pattern June 2024

Not in the summer. I remembers.
1980, 1981, 1986, 1987, and 1988 were fairly dry. 1982, 1984, and 1989 were wet to very wet. The stretch from late 1985 to early 1989 was dry and if that had lasted much longer some very serious things were ready to happen. Thankfully things turned around bigtime in March 1989.

Gfs longer range so it's wrong but this would be a brutal cutoff

Well you’re is failing you because the 80s were very dry summers in the Carolinas capped off by that extremely hot and dry summer of 1988
1988 could have been much worse here though, but the heart of that drought stayed to our west and north. 1986 would have been much worse than it was too if things had not changed in August of that year. We were headed for real trouble I think in 1989, but thankfully things changed in March that year. We had already started having rolling blackouts here and if the rains had not come that summer would have saw more of them for many more of us. The 1986-88 stretch was rough for the southeast but could have been much worse.
