Pattern Juggernaut June

Just had a significant weather advisory issued for the storm south of me heading my way. Main hazard is heavy rain. Usually when I get these, strong winds are accompanied with them but this one is just for heavy rain. Must be some real heavy rain coming. Can’t wait.
Quick, start a thread! ? ?

Several weeks ago we planned my son’s 2nd bday party for today and current Radar looks like dog shìt. Damn you Mother Nature. Damn you to hell
That sucks man! Should have just celebrated at the Wu concert last night??
My sons bday is in February, so we don’t even gamble with outdoor parties, that would be the one day it snowed all winter, but basically it’s been 60+ degrees on his birthday, since the day he was born?

There's actually some modest low level directional shear out here.

Might have to keep an eye out on those cells that continue to bubble up to the SW of here as the day progresses and more instability builds...

Yeah, it’s heading into a environment with better backing SFC winds

I think most of SC and the Charlotte Metro stays dry today. The first batch stays west of this area and not much forms over this area because of gulf convection blocking moisture.

Flash flood watch issued for Atlanta area until 8 pm tomorrow. 2 to 3 inches of rain expected with localized higher totals.

Technically, the text says "2-3" inches could occur in a short period of time."

In other words, they didn't place a ceiling on the total rainfall amounts (which is even more ominous).

While this is possible, there’s a fetch of moisture/instability from the Atlantic, looks like a leftover boundary will move across NC today sparking convection, then the baroclinic zone/upsloping will really get going again after dark

Oops my bad. They typically have that included in the watches so I just figured it was there.

Looking to the south on radar convection is really picking up to the south again. Gonna be a rainy day.

Been pretty much a non-event so far at my location in SE Charlotte with around a half an inch of rain that fell yesterday morning. The sun has been out most of the morning today.

The precip just hit a wall! It’s not moved E in 4 hours, just pivoting N?
I want my flooding!?

.25" in that storm yesterday.

I'm non too pleased at looking west of me on the radar, but there's rain that's trying hard to develop to get in position to train over me. Let's see if that works out.

It’s been rain raining! Already got over an inch today and had an inch yesterday! I’m ready for these temps in the 70s next week!!! Heavy thunderstorms all weekend! Raining so hard rn that there is no TV signal

Looks like the models were right with this system here. Woke up around 3:00 am with some house shaking thunder and lightning. Best storm I have had all year. Side note, it happened without a watch. And now it is pouring rain. There is already flooding here in town.

Was it severe?

Was it severe?

It was the biggest storm I have had all year. Lots of thunder, lots of lightning. I haven't even had hardly any thunder and no lightning at all when under a severe thunderstorm watch or warning.

Ok, but if it wasn't severe, then not having a watch seems like a decent call. I've had a lot of non-severe storms so far this year when not under a watch. I've had some heavy rain also when not under a flood watch.

There it is, beginning about 10 minutes ago. Loud thunder and another downpour in progress. Maybe this one produces more than .25".

2.1” so far

It's been non-stop rumbles of thunder since 7-8am this morning.

That said, the rain has let up temporarily (this has happened a few times).
