Impressive near KDH
Looks like RDU is saying 1.5" for their location. I heard Wake Forest reported 1.9". I'm not quite at 2", so I'm going with 1.75".

Overcast and a cold 20 degrees this morning with a multi-measurement average of 2 inches of snow just west of Lucama NC (SW Wilson county)

Roads are a disaster area here. Say about 3” with a good amount sleet. Side streets like skating rinks. North Bridge, Ashley River Bridge, Ravenel Bridge closed.

KEY MESSAGES:
- Winter Weather Advisory now in effect for straggling snow
band along the immediate coast.
Snow is now confined to the immediate coast from Carteret County
up the length of the entire Outer Banks. This band is
considerably weaker than what we saw overnight, but it will
still likely produce additional snow amounts of a half inch to
an inch in a worst case scenario.

Only ended up with 3" of snow/sleet here. The heavy sleet we got last night killed out totals. So much for 6"+ or even more some models were showing at the last minute.

Im.measuring between 4.5 and 5 around the yard. Considerable blowing and drifting. Roads are concrete ice and snow because they started out sticking immediately and the sleet/snow mix has been brutal for the non treated roads.

Early indications from parents is that sleet monster crashed metro Wilmington’s party some. Where they live (close to indochine for the locals) they got about 4

UNC is operating as normal this morning which kind of surprised me. Drove the Ms. to work this morning. The roads are surprisingly decent once you get on the main roads although the untreated roads are white.

Looks like sleet became an issue from Savannah to Wilmington. While NOLA and Pensacola had no issues with the warm nose. Wild stuff

I think that donut powder snow is fine to drive, it’s the heavier consistencies that get hard packed into ice sheets that are the concern

Lol this is probably to first snow like this these kids have seen...which is kinda sad lol. At the rate we qet snow lately they might be in college before they see it again

Agreed, I’ve got a WRX so it was a pretty easy drive. Just have to watch the parts where the snow has been hard packed by other cars into a more of an icy type substance.

Nope, I got 6" and i'm like 40 miles north of the 6" line on this map. Also, I'm pretty sure far Southwest Georgia near the FL border did not get 12-18".

I'm over the bridge in leland and we had about a 2 hour window where it was flipping back and forth constantly. We could have made a run at 6-8 if it wasn't for that.

Still amazing to me that we’ve had as about as good of a pattern and winter as you could draw up in December and January and I only ended up with 2” of snow a 0.25” of ZR. Man idk what it’s going to take for us to finally get legit snow storms in the CAD regions where it should honestly be the easiest outside of the mountains in the entire southeast. You’ve got alligators in the bayou with 10” of snow sitting on their heads right now and we can’t even get jack diddly here anymore. Just frustrating at this point. It’s always never enough cold air and then when we finally get the cold air established, then it’s too much. Happy for those in the Deep South and gulf coast for getting to see snow but there’s never a world where they should be getting snow and we can’t up here.
