Well obviously that set up looks to have colder air out in front and it looks as though Arctic air will be close by as well. However with the trends the last 24 hours for the 8th-9th timeframe, it hard not to be a little intrigued

I gotta say, the recent GFS runs showing winter storm chances along the SE Gulf coastal region south of I-20 has my full attention. Things could get interesting in my neck of the woods in southern LA by mid month.
