Tropical Hurricane Ida

What's up with the nam being a good 100-200 miles away from landfall than the gfs euro..? Is the nam that bad at tropical systems?

I already know your thoughts but to be honest do people really want to come here and get an update about the storm want to read about tornadoes in Wilkes or whether or not mby will get .25 or .5 when we can have a post landfall impacts thread? It's going to get really messy if we don't split since it's going to take 4-5 days for this to move through

I don't get the big deal why it's so hard to just read it all in one thread.

Well Brick to be honest google analytics tells me we have people who read this board as members or guests and they are in the area that could see significant impacts from the system at or shortly after landfall. To better streamline the passing of information to those folks that could see a life altering event it makes some sense to take the posts away into another thread that do not pertain to them. On top of that people in areas where the remnant circulation may cause tornadoes or flooding likely want to discuss that but that information may get buried in this thread or they may refrain from posting bc they don't think it's important enough. Either solution of keeping it all here or splitting it will cause some level of grief but having information easily available to members is what we want to do versus an amalgamated mega thread with posts relating to 5 different things

Here’s my two cents, since “gulf locals” do not and should not use this site for evacs or the latest info just leave it all here. I also think tropical should combine to general weather not separate. We know most here are locals to inland weather and creating multiple separate things honestly hurts the reading material for the majority.

You are correct people shouldn't use this site to make evacuation decisions that should be left to the proper authorities. That said people do come here to gather information just as they search the internet and social media.

Fact is 90% of information they find here will be better than social media.... anyway I'm all for separate threads. Also, call me a meananger if you like folks, but as this gets close and the dangerous threat becomes real, we may actually moderate this thread a little more.

Absolute ****. Went down to New Orleans last year and saw the new pump stations. They have to have power to run. Downtown water creeps up from the sidewalk daily and has to be worked on. New neighborhood construction is often a waste of money and left alone once it starts sinking. It’s truly a giant fish bowl.

A good long stretch of chance of naders as well.

Still sitting at QUOTE]I think a new thread is being made for inland threats. I haven't really looked at inland threats but the position of the low is around the Memphis area on about Sunday/ Monday so that and the height falls favor some strong storms

I think everyone should be welcome here but never cater to any one party since there is no official authority here. For most it’s learning and a hobby. Separating things could cause some to falsely believe they can get all the latest info on life decisions specific to their backyard or parish.
I base 100% of my decisions from your guidance. I feel lost when your are banned.

Again we are not an official government website nor are we affiliated as such and evacuation decisions should not be based on this website. Please stop pushing that or any associated narrative in edited posts. What our role is is simply to give people a place to discuss and share information.

Thank you

I wonder if the people of New Orleans get tired of people comparing every hurricane to Katrina like we do with Hugo. Folks let recon improve the track and model guidance first it’s too early. Always a greater chance this does not pull a Katrina. Could easily pull cat 4/5 and hit somewhere so rural you never hear about it again. Like what happened to Mexico Beach Florida.

Then the likelihood of the levy’s surviving a major hurricane seem slim. Of course a lot depends on track
