Yeah that convection is still exploding, Cat 5 easily. God help those in her path

I just can’t get over this … every time it happens it’s even more crazy than the last … I know I’m looking at a CAT 5 but I’ll be even more shocked when it’s official … also I wouldn’t be so sure about deaths … ALOT of people stayed for xyz reasons I’ve been hearing on Twitter and on news feeds some people really stayed and they’re going to feel 150+ mph winds .. and with it surge and heavy rainfall… it’s almost unsurvivable conditions … there will be horror stories with this

Its going to be close for New Orleans......recon shows winds at the surface 100 or better out around 30 miles from the center.....this wont have the surge of Katrina it is a much more compact system.....however places like Grand Isle are going to cease to exist....its basically going to track right up the hwy leading to Grand Isle were most of the people live in that part of LA.....New Orleans really needs no north wobbles at this point, a big north wobble now is literally the difference between winds in the 70-80 range gusting to 100ish and winds 100+ gusting to 130+....

The reality is, there are a lot of folks out there who simply don't have the means to up and suddenly evacuate, especially given how rapidly the forecast that was communicated to them changed. That doesn't make then stupid.
Who said this was an underperformer...
