Some people are also terrified to leave their belongings behind and have people come loot their houses. I know that's not a great reason to stay but I think a lot of people have that mindset. Please be kind.
The reality is, there are a lot of folks out there who simply don't have the means to up and suddenly evacuate, especially given how rapidly the forecast that was communicated to them changed. That doesn't make then stupid.
This looks like the images of the "Cyclones" that hit the Eastern Pacific rim countries.Unfortunately we’ve come to that time … that time where she has “that look” that buzzsaw look … good gracious
Buzzsaw. It might be one of “those” storms that is argued for years as to whether it was truly Cat 5 at landfall.
It may slide just far enough west to spare NO the absolute most catastrophic results, still bad, horrible yes. But your right 70-80 to 130+ is huge difference and only takes slight deviation one way for the other. Grand Isle likely done for ?Its going to be close for New Orleans......recon shows winds at the surface 100 or better out around 30 miles from the center.....this wont have the surge of Katrina it is a much more compact system.....however places like Grand Isle are going to cease to exist....its basically going to track right up the hwy leading to Grand Isle were most of the people live in that part of LA.....New Orleans really needs no north wobbles at this point, a big north wobble now is literally the difference between winds in the 70-80 range gusting to 100ish and winds 100+ gusting to 130+....
