Tropical Hurricane Ian

Well that was fun. Pouring now, but the worst wind is done. Highest gust I recorded was 25, but I'm sure I had a gust or two around 40. 2.25" of rain so far, with another .5 - 1.0 to go. Under a FFW. Still have power. All in all, a very fun weather day. I'll give it an A.

Interested in what winds will manifest in this band. HRRRRR had the winds peaking not for another hour or two for Raleigh.

Winds are still building across Wake. I’ve seen several posts mentioning winds are dying. I can assure you the storm has not passed. My house currently has the heaviest rain rate and I’ve recorded the top 3 gusts of the day all in the past 15min

I'm not going to give you a dislike but I can tell you for sure that the winds have died down here in Southern Wake vs what they were a couple of hours ago, even under this death band of heavy rain. I'm glad too.

I'm at the northern edge of this band and the rain is coming down in buckets now and the winds are gusting hard. If this band passes without too much trouble I see things getting better from then on out. I just went outside to get the mail and I've got another small tree down to clean up tomorrow. Liking severe and winter weather sometimes is like getting drunk, it's intoxicating and thrilling to watch nature at work and the damage you have to clean up the next day is the hangover.

It’s crazy the winds died down at your house but nowhere else. My PWS here in southern wake, near intersection of ten ten / 401 just recorded the highest reading of the event at 42.405D5EB77-89BF-47F5-8481-5EB12991ED82.jpeg

Those bands rotating through now aren’t moving and this is the strongest winds of the day which is saying something because there’s a tons of limbs and some trees already down all across highway 11 and 14.

What a day probably one of the more notable wind events for our area in quite a while! Very exciting weather day for sure. This rain to top it off is absolutely amazing too after the weeks of dry weather we have had. I’m still seeing some solid gusts and noticing that the tall trees are feeling it the most. Although the frequency has come down. Still with this heavy rain we’re seeing any gust could start causing even more problems. Glad to be off the road now. Roads were trashed with twigs and leaves and small sticks. Like after a derecho moved through. Stellar day all together.

Looks like the Saluda river will be the dividing line here in upstate SC. Not very much will get west of there. Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union counties doing very well with this. The west jog that put the center into Georgetown instead of Mrytle Beach helped a lot.

Wind seems to be kicking up a little here on the coast again. Getting a SSE wind directly off the water. I would love to know the actual windspeed but the unreliable ASOS is down again.

The COC looks to be headed for a direct crossing of CLT metro! We’re models showing it that far west? Thought center was going up through Greensboro from what I saw this AM?65830B47-631F-42E2-9113-F6D48EACD339.png

Amazing what a difference 2 counties to the west makes. I've had very little wind today and just started getting some light rain about an hour ago. Up to a total of.04! ?
Looks like more making it's way on the radar but it's been a non event here.
