I’ll have whatever stuff the FV3 is smoking for the weekend. Drives the wedge way into AL and Saturday and Sunday are very nice.

It is, but a wedge front is forecast to build in on Saturday from the east. Many times it has over performed in east AL and ruined nice warm days in Spring and made the cold and miserable. Us over here are hoping for the same thing to happen again.
 
98. I'm not sure if it's the all time but probably is.

I'll tell you what, that 77 on Saturday sure sounds good since I just went and walked in this (and in my case sometimes the CAD causes high predictions to bust high as well). Even mid 80 high predictions with occasional lower sounds fine right now.
 
The Cartersville Airport is reading 99 for the 2nd straight afternoon. Soccer practice is going to be a blast.
 
- KATL's high so far is still at 97, which is already the highest on record in Oct.
- KMCN hit an unreal 102 at 3 PM! this gives them a new alltime record high for Oct by 2 degrees! This not only obliterates the old daily record of 95 for Oct 3rd, but it is also beats the record for Sep 3rd of 101 and even the record for August 3rd of 100! It is only 1 from the hottest of the year, 103! What an historical day in the wacky world of wx!

Actually hit 98, the all time hottest day in October!! Beating the 97 from yesterday!

I'm not sure if it is official yet, but I just saw two 5 minute obs having KATL at NINETY NINE DEGREES! IF that is real, that would mean it is tied for the 2nd hottest of the entire year and exceeded by only one degree in August!! It would also mean a new monthly record that exceeds the old monthly, which was just set yesterday, by 3 degrees!!

The 99s showing up at KATL on those 5 minute obs may not be reflecting anything official because the hottest of these yesterday was 97 and yet the official high was only 96. So, I'll wait with eager anticipation to see what the official high will turn out to be. The hottest hourly is only 96 though I'd be shocked if the official high is only 96.

And hot off the press, the official high as of 4:37 PM is 97 rather than 99 even though the two 99 obs were just before that. So, one can't go by these 5 minute obs for official records, apparently...at least not at KATL.
Regardless, 97 is incredible and a new monthly record high!

There's some inherent error in the instrument plus the occasional passing cloud &/or gust of wind which momentarily decreases insolation or raises ventilation near the sensor respectively, & depending on where the sensor is located at the airport, planes taking off or landing may significantly affect the sensor's reported temperature. Vertical mixing during a warm afternoon like this may also lead to temperature variations of a few degrees or so due to changes in the height of the mixed layer locally &/or winds.

Im glad I'm not the only one thinking planes. Then again my car thermometer sat at 100 all the way home. Only maxed at 97 at the house

NWS for my LIX office says it best about this insane Hotober Heat:

DISCUSSION... Augtober looks like it`s going to stick around for another couple of days. Several records have been threatened or broken today and even with high pressure flattening out a bit, high temperatures should reach the low to mid 90s through Saturday. To add insult to injury, the beautiful cold front that many of us were counting on to finally bring us some relief next week has been looking weaker over the last few model runs. It should still drop temperatures 5 to 10 degrees, but even with that drop, most places will still see slightly higher than normal temperatures. With subsidence weakening as the ridge flattens, should see isolated to widely scattered showers/storms Friday and Saturday. By Sunday and Monday expect scattered coverage as the front approaches. Rainfall amounts not overly impressive with most places forecast to see a half inch accumulation or less. This won`t make much of a dent in the dry conditions across the area, but at least it`s something, right? Speaking of a lack of rain, the latest drought monitor published today does indicate that abnormally dry conditions have officially expanded across nearly all of our southern and coastal Mississippi counties, as well as parts of SE LA that are north of the I-10/12 corridor. Depending on how much rain actually falls with this front, further expansion and/or worsening intensity will be possible in next week`s update. The slightly cooler air mass behind the front will quickly modify as another upper trough digs into the four corners region, forcing surface high pressure eastward and causing surface winds to become more easterly or southeasterly late Wednesday and into Thursday. Beyond the current forecast period, the GFS and Euro both indicate another cold front for next weekend. We`ll see how this progresses, but I`m starting to wonder if Augtober will ever truly come to an end. &&

RDU's highest of the year being today, Oct 3rd at 100, is 17 days later than the previous latest hottest of the year on record. The old record latest hottest of the year was Sep 16th, which was set in 1956.

It also shattered the record of the latest 100° day by more than three weeks.
 
96 for a high today at KGVL. I honestly cannot remember the last time it rained here. Sometime mid August I would guess.
 
90.0 on the dot today! Amazing how hard it is for my area to get over 90. Only hit that mark a few days this summer.

we made it past the worst heat today! All down from here :D:D:D
