Inches of tears.
What a complete bummer of a storm. Got a dusting at best, but I didn’t expect anything more. I hoped there might be a surprise, but I knew the reality I was facing.
But man… Mother Nature has just been absolutely cruel to the folks in Raleigh. I’m devastated for y’all.
This storm just sucks. Someone always misses out, but this is the worst kind of missing out.
Y’all go get some good comfort food/indulge on something. I know the emotional energy around winter events is intense. And the horrible mood it can leave you in. Do some self care. Treat yourself. You deserve it.

I get it but at least you had a winter storm i just wished I could of had one this year besides rain but honestly i don’t want the ice just snowBelieve me you want none of what people got north of you from last weekendStill snow and ZR on everything but I’m 700$ poorer and that’s probably the low end for most out here.
Maybe I don’t feel bad for them…why are they still telling viewers that we could get 3”. They just asking for the abuse the now.

RAH had even more here. They were calling for 5 to 7 for me.
They are believing the latest hires model outputs for the Triangle. You know the ones that show even less total accumulations out west then they already have on the ground currently.

Because the models still do show that so they are communicating with the public that this is what the models are showing and this is what we believe will happen

I like Fish a lot. Even I’m surprised we aren’t seeing 2-3”. I thought that was a slam dunk easy call but it wasn’t. We live in Raleigh.
After last weeks big ice storm which was just typical sleet event we’ve had many many times to now no snow when they called for 4-8” by literally everyone…folks in Raleigh will never believe another thing the weather forecasters say.
This is the worst winter event in my lifetime…by a long shot.

Worst one for me since Dec 2000.
And the thing that gets me is it doesn't seem any easier forecasting winter storms here now than it did back then.
At least Raleigh had nearly two feet less than a year before that one. Now we've gone 7+ years without more than 3" and 22 years with more than 10" in a winter.
Yeah...and 12/2000 didn't just affect Raleigh...it affected Raleigh to GSO. When this is all said and done NC will have many locations to our south/east/west with 6-10"+ and we are going to be at a dusting.
But yeah looking at that below still stings and this one will sting. It just doesn't snow here anymore...I don't understand.
Raleigh folks going to look back at this wasted January pattern...thats what stings the most, we get these patterns for this extended a period like 1 time every 10-15 years and we pissed it away. I can't believe we screwed this up so bad...
Noticed that, if it could make it to Raleigh area in the next 2 hours could produce some decent snowfall. If it short stops Raleigh seems we don’t have much hope left of a measurable snowfall
I like to gamble and I would have bet a lot of money that Raleigh would have seen 4-5" of snow with this...and I would have bet even more money that we wouldn't get blanked. I still don't know how this is possible. And if that freaking 50/50 would have lifted out 6-8 hours sooner...

I know people joke and say things just don't work like they used to, but they really don't when it comes to winter weather here.
Not going to at all from this image below. Note the projected time. If you cycle this thru the upcoming 2hrs everything just moves S->N. The dry slot stays put more or less.
I'm still going to joke and laugh. We've done this more times than we've hit so actually they are working like they used to
Based on your image in comparison to right now, it doesn't move West at all in the next two hours.
The stuff to our east isn’t pushing west and the stuff to the west can’t push east. The stuff to the west will rotate to our south and away. And the surface low will pull away out to sea. It’s over for us.

Going to take super rates to get to 6.9 tonight. I thought these numbers out west reflected totals but just realized the numbers out west/sw indicate add'l snow to come in the next 18hrs. Been bountiful for some of you guys. Enjoy.

Yeah, just like every other meso model. Stop believing it, look at the radar and where we live. It’s over.
And for good news…the pattern collapses after next weekend. It’s winter over for us. Maybe areas like BMX/Nashville get there turn in Feb.
