Misc General Banter Thread

I’m going to trust Fishel and Jonathan Wall on this that we might still get the 4”-7” they were calling for
Nah I’ve been hurt enough today watching nearly every NC town outside the triangle reign in snowfall whilst I sit in this impenetrable snow hole. Trusting it’ll change for the better atp sounds like a setup for misery

Beautiful day. We may not get a ton of snow, but happy for everyone in far north GA and SC who are catching up on years of nothing.

I'm on the west side of town, adn the mesoconvective band is close to over my place. Birds are frantic outside, and have been all morning

This has been nice today

ULL is doing work in western areas, I guess I’m surprised the coastal is not doing much except for coastal nc. Thought it would blow up closer to the coast and get precip back west into Raleigh area. This is a strange one.

Yep, this is one of the biggest winter storm let downs I've went through. I've had others that we're pretty bad as well. But I've had some good luck with storms we did have during the last decade, so this feels worse. I've learned (again) to not trust any long-range models. And also when a specific trend pops up (like dry slot) acknowledge that as a real possibility, if not a probability. At least by doing this, you're not let down at go time.

But I'm really happy for everybody else, particularly the folks south and east.

It's more or less due east of Hilton Head right now. Moving NE and deepening. Hang in there.

Somewhere in India a butterfly flapped it's wings that lead to a monkey falling out of a tree that led to a piece of energy in baha tugging on a piece of energy in Bahamas that led to 2 pieces of big energy having a nasty divorce in Wake county NC just because...... It sucks but it is what it is

I want to say in 2001 we had a similar experience here in Raleigh. A call for 14-20 inches that ultimately turned out to absolutely be nothing. In fact the sun came out that day, I want to say all that snow went east and I remember Chris Holeman on ABC-11 mentioning dry air that moved in. With that said, I still think this produces snow for us at some point.

A big fat nothing burger just south of Fayetteville. I am not even wishing for snow BUT when its this cold and seemingly everyone around you is getting snow, this is a gut punch.
Not even the courtesy of a reach around SMH

Can't wait to hear from Mitch!!
Not sure about Mitch but here in West Columbia which is in same county as Mitch it’s been a dud so far. Snowing since 8 this morning. Tiny flakes with very little accumulation. Almost looks like sun wants to come out now

So far everyone from north south west and now east of me has gotten snow yet around these parts here in the tennessee valley we have gotten nothing. only thing so far this winter we got was a bone chilly cold rain and maybe a flurry smdh 🤦‍♂️

I was worried about that with y'all being on the south end of the ULL shield and it being an ULL in general. Still time though.

The NWS in Raleigh must still have faith in that coastal low throwing some love to the folks around RDU. Their latest forecast mentioned snow starting after 2:00 PM and accumulations from two to five inches. At this point, I'm not putting too much faith in their forecast.

Apparently Greg Fishel hasn’t backed down from his 4-7 inch call. Its actually started here on the Raleigh side of Durham. Barely, but flakes are flying.

The great Raleigh anti-snow siege continues but showing signs of weakening. Scattered reports of Chapel Hill/Durham/Pittsboro being overrun. Lines are beginning to surround 540. Breakthrough may come within the hour?

It's tough when I just saw WRAL show in-house futurecast not snowing in Wake until after 5pm.

Somebody needs to write a dissertation on this dry-slot nightmare

The NWS had just backed off of those totals. Now they are calling for two to five inches. The no snow slot is slowly filling in on radar.

Going to watch the royal rumble this afternoon so I can feel better knowing that there are millions of other bozos believing in things that aren't real
