Misc General Banter Thread

Yeah, just hard to believe that.
Quicker we can erode the subsidence the better chance we have. I don't think those nam and rgem runs are impossible they just aren't likely. The actual real life pieces seem to be evolving slower than models. Maybe it's me.

The window from 1z-4z is basically it. If we aren't dropping mashed potatoes this is mediocre at best

Your savior is coming onshore in Myrtle Beach right now and moving due north.

Na that meso low to the west is going to rotate and make its way SE overnight. The low level flow off the ocean is downright juicy down here. Juicy as it can be at 24 degrees. Once it rotates around yall that’ll close it up.
That’s one of our problems up here is that the system is fading south instead of turning up the coast. Of course, it’s just one of many arrows in the atmospheric quiver to not make it snow at RDU.

Maybe a little novelty event? Wednesday.

TUESDAY NIGHT
Mostly cloudy. Snow likely after midnight. Little or no snow accumulation. Not as cold with lows in the lower 30s. Chance of snow 60 percent.

WEDNESDAY
Snow likely in the morning. Mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. Little or no snow accumulation. Highs in the upper 30s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Mostly cloudy in the evening, then becoming partly cloudy. A chance of rain in the evening. Colder with lows around 20. Chance of rain 30 percent.

Interestingly there are icicles on the roof already, wonder if they will be there tomorrow.

I am going to need to get a lot of rest here as while I will take this event, I don’t see anything that will keep work from being on schedule Monday unless something wild happens with the final bits.

Was happy to see some big ULL type stuff even if brief, but can my next snow finally be from a gulf storm that is not quite as suppressed as last year was? This ULL stuff is ultimately for the birds.

That heavy snow band to the east isn’t making it to Raleigh wow. It’s starting to pull up and stall about 5-10 miles east. This is nuts

These dry, powdery, snows with an extremely cold airmass never seem to work for Raleigh. We always seem to battle dry air and are lucky to get 0.1" QPF. Meanwhile we can easily get 1" QPF when it's 33 and rain

Gentlemen I’m gonna go ahead and say it

You could live 10 lifetimes and you might not see another one play out that way around here

An old fashioned Carolina snowstorm

Top 3..easy

The consistency of snow that fell today is something you would see on a ski mountain above 4500 feet during a good cold snow. This is rare. Especially when it doesn’t snow for 4 years then it suddenly decides to snow at 23 degrees all day long. I may suffer from recency bias and the fact that this is the first “big” snow I got to share with my now 8 year old son and his 4 year old brother at home. Big day. A day I can only compare to January 2011. And even that does today a disservice. This one will stand alone in my mind.

This was legitimately the best case scenario ever no warm nose concerns, on a Saturday, in the daylight and the result was a total pants shitting
al roker pooped my pants GIF

The snow hole still has its grips on me and SD…keep holding…I don’t want some weak inch of snow now. That would be even more demoralizing. 🙏

It could snow 6” twice a winter for the next 10 years and I still won’t ever be over this…what a waste of time tracking this. That’s what I’m more pissed about.

Im already dreading next winter.

Myrtle getting blasted! Sad when the Skywheel has more snow than RAH!IMG_4542.png

Underperformed for AGS. This morning, looked like 3-4 inches. We recorded 1 inch in North Augusta (SC side of the river). Was predicting our biggest snow since 2010 (more than 2 inches)… didn’t happen. Got more from that quick coastal storm last year than this. 2+ inch snow drought continues for the 16th year in a row.
