Hoping the sleet will save us like it did in 2014. Really don't want to see trees and power lines come crashing to the ground.

This is Statesville NC at 6Z Sunday AM. I’m trying to learn but is this not a snow sounding?

Back in my single days, I’d probably head over to GSO to stay with my parents since they are more prepared (they have a generator, etc.) and the storm might be better there with more sleet as opposed to IP, but alas those days are past. We have a dog that doesn’t play nice with cats and my parents have two cats, so that would have to be a last resort.

Yeah the power issues will likely be much less serious and ill be stuck regardless. Plus, as a college student, it’s tough to prepare. My mom was a bit worried about me and NC’s ice infrastructure
 
Curious if anyone has any general idea of Robert / WxSouth’s general thoughts about this system?
 
What is bothering me is that...usually, the CAD get stronger on the models (back in the day) but it seems to reverse. Back it the day the 12z would have been 4 to 5 day runs and the closer you get the colder and the realize you cant break down a CAD. Maybe the CAD is in the wrong position. If it was in PA, it would make a difference.

Great post and a common problem with any type of wx showing on the models (rain, snow, sleet, hot, cold, windy, etc.) Or say “in my location” like I often do since my location is known.
