When was the last time you guys had to deal with water restrictions? I'd think if things don't get better come Spring those may start to pop up again or is it not an issue as in the past? I wouldn't know since I've got a good 'ol deep well tapped right into a cold water spring, thank goodness!
Yeah that’s my point it seems like all we been doing is wasting each day away with waiting on something to show up only for us to realize we keep getting screwed over with these models. Before we know this winter will be gone with nothing to show for it.
I'm on a well too. It's been a good one and I've never had issues. I know the cities (Triangle) will put restrictions on when the water source (like Falls Lake) gets low enough. Usually they wait until spring/summer when people try to water their lawns. If this pattern doesn't break, I could see restrictions starting as early as March.

I will never look at the GFS again!!! I've known for a long time not to take it seriously but the damn weenie in me takes over. If the Euro doesn't show it you can forget about it.
I think that's our best chance for upstate and Western North Carolina people.
I bet the precipitation shield would really extend 50-100 miles NW of what’s shown in the picture.
Unfortunately the air in that sounding is way too dry to allow snow to reach the surface. Anything falling would get eaten up by the high dew point depression around 850mb. The only way snow can get down with that sounding is if there is a steady to moderate snow aloft that is continuously falling and moistens the column. Even then a large amount of that would be wasted trying to get a brief light snow at the surface. The real way you can get snow with this is if the weather system changes orientation or ticks NW where there is more mid level moisture to reduce and eventually overcome this dry air layer.
I’m a glass half full person and I truly think we see westward expansion of precip as we close in. Still a lot of time for changes
I think a lot of it comes down to most in here being from areas that aren’t seeing any great runs. That’s my take.
It's just been way too long since anyone other than places above 3500ft have seen anything meaningful in years. Unless your in Roxboro or Moyock lol
Really feels like no one knows what will happen with regards to winter storms here until we are 24 hours out or less. First it was we weren't going to have enough precip and temps weren't an issue to now temps are going to be too warm. The GFS and NAM have been all over the place. It's sad that the NAM goes from 6 inches here to nothing in one run just 48 hours out. They need to figure out something with these models because it seems the algorithms they use now don't match our climate data or something anymore because they shouldn't be that bad. It feels like the Euro is the only one that is worth looking at to see if there is going to be a chance of snow and then maybe the short range models like the HRRR inside 24 hours for totals.
