Is next winter predicted to be ENSO neutral? It can't be as bad as this year...right?

Does this winter worry anyone about climate change?

It's certainly alarming the general public.

I really think there is some merit to that... word is... even up in the artic region... polar bears were spotted running around naked...

I'm worried about the very slowly rising sea level not too many miles from me (spring tidal flooding of the road to the beach is so much more frequent now vs a few decades back) that's very likely due to warming oceans that are from a warmer globe, but that's, of course, for another thread.

Otoh, 1889-90 was about 2 degrees warmer than this one at ATL and that was with a supposedly colder station downtown (not yet a big city then with only 65K people) vs the current warm influences of the airport vs surrounding areas.

Interestingly, the 2 warmest ATL winters are from the late 1800's and the 3rd warmest (for now though 2016-7 could overtake it) was 85 years ago!

Edited for typo. Warmest winter was 1889-90, not 1879-80.

and I get beachfront property in Gainesville (???)
I moved here from JAX years and years ago, just to avoid the tourists and golfers!

That's true. I wish there were more hours in the day. I'd like to go through each year from like 1880 and present and summarize the weather and key details for each year. Put it in a notebook or binder and study it.

In fact, I'm going to do that. It'll take a while but it's worth it.

Note my typo. I meant 1889-90, not 1879-80, for the winter that was about 2 warmer than the current one. Also, the ATL pop had then risen to near 65K. 1879-80 is currently 2nd warmest. I corrected that post.

Nice heavy shower coming through.

I strongly recommend you go to the downtown library to view old ATL newspapers on microfilm. That's how I learned a lot about ATL wx history a number of years ago though it was extremely time comsuming. I was there many hours on a good number of days (several weeks worth of days easily but not all consecutive days as that would drive most folks totally batsheet). I was fascinated by the daily wx forecasts and how well they verified. I also loved reading the articles after a winter storm.
