Wintry February 7-8 Winter storm

im hoping this thing comes in juicier than anticipated with the better flow and moisture tap from the gulf that is being shown. I’ve seen these things verify a lot wetter at go time with these looks on modeling in the past. modernweenie

Damn we might actually get some accumulating snow out of this. I had pretty much written this winter off. This will be fun, but I do prefer the storms that we actually have to track for several days. Those feel more rewarding at the end of the journey. Nonetheless, I will be up early tomorrow to see how Radar trends look. I’m about 20 miles NW of ATL now, so in a decent spot.

Marietta/Kennesaw?

The Euro has had a weak signal for the last couple days but it was light and came in later in the day. Hopefully it comes on board with the earlier and wetter trends.

I'll be surprised if FFC doesn't issue WWAs for the NE GA mountains later this afternoon/evening at least. There's enough model support to warrant it imo.

RAP sounding the fail alarm for those in the upstate outside of the mountains. NGA looks goodC2B6B9FE-01A9-4E70-AA29-FA658E1AB9F1.png

Nice whiteout snow globe showers in the mtns today. Last about 10 mins, put down a half inch, fade, sun peaks through then another rolls in. Wash rinse repeat. The joys of upslope snow

Alright FFC, your serve now.

I was reading the hazardous weather outlook as well as the AFD from FFC, and they are saying the snow will be mostly for the mountains. They're being conservative, there's going to be accumulating snowfall outside of the mountains down towards the Atlanta metro. I'd expect to see a winter weather advisory issued at least, may even winter storm warnings for the mountains.
