Wintry Feb. 19-20

Dang you actually went to work ? Aren't the roads in horrible condition there ?
Nah I’m WFH today haha. Although honestly the roads this afternoon look like they’re getting to okay. Probably will refreeze tonight, though.

this gonna be hickory in two week's time? heres to hoping for them!
I think that picture was taken in Goldsboro, my wife's home town. The March 1927 storm was probably the biggest snow storm that eastern North Carolina has ever received since weather observations have been recorded.

yeaaahhh my partner is over a 30 min drive from me (Southern CH) and we had tentative plans for tonight but i think neither of us is going to feel safe driving later on (we both work from home but dont finish til 5-530 and i think roads will be getting bad again around then)

Preliminary 72-hour snowfall from the NOHRSC as of 7am this morning, and season-to-date totals.
Impressive footprint with this most recent system. Central MS still waiting on their storm, not sure they get it but I'll be rooting for them.

Every time I feel shortchanged by this winter I look at this map and I'm grateful I don't live in Shreveport or Jackson. Those poor souls to have everyone around them score.

Looks like Durham has a meme pic out of this storm from yesterday on Duke Street. Not as good as the one from Glenwood in 2014, but not bad, LOL. If only there was a car fire like in that other photo. 🔥

The irony is that you probably had a much higher impact event than us further west. That sleet is going to be much harder to melt! 3” of sleet is serious! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten more than 2” of it.

Yeah roads are a mess my driveway melted a little but it's been 28 or lower all day.

Nice! A little powder sugar on top of your glacier haha!

Of course snow is always preferred, but I think getting a bunch of sleet piled up like that is pretty cool. Enjoy the epic sledding!

LOL I am to old to go sledding and my "kid" is an adult lol, lots of kids in the neighborhood running around though. Also they had the 4 wheelers out a while ago but they had trouble controlling them cause the roads are 3" thick solid wet ice...gonna be horrible in the morning after we get into the teens tonight.
