The first bit of dry air it has to work through the sleet would make it down first because of its velocity and crystal structure. Once you stay in the precip for long enough it should be all snow.

Snow growth zone is lowering, some spots probably still have a DGZ to high where thereās mid level dry air. As the ULL gets closer DGZs should lower

That's encouraging for us down south. Also one of the CLT mets said the foothills would only have light flurries. lol

Is this a small line or does that build back out to our west some? Looks to be just a really small burst at that look but Iām not the one that would know.
Sounds like sleet outside but it's white balls, mod almost on the heavy side. #graupel

For us farther east, it looks like the precip is building and moving east. Here's one radar, which isn't picking up on the returns farther south towards Charlotte and the southern foothills:

Must mean the snow growth zone isnāt adequate yet or low enough yet, but also could mean that this thing is become really convective, the band is about 10KFT high and air is really cold aloft. Might see a lightning strike in this thing or 2Pouring Graupel
