And as one would expect, it translates down to colder 2M temps nicely vs prior runs with a 2-3 degree drop/day on average (that’s a lot for a change like this). The new run’s -NAO and -AO blocking along with an increase in the PNA/more ridging W coast and there we go!

It's interesting how the gfs handles the waves in the PNW and WC around and after D10, sort of tying them all together and pumping the SER instead of moving them through and keeping the SER muted

Meanwhile, the 18Z GEFS looks like ? late in the 6-10 day vs earlier runs for SE cold pattern wanters. Since it is HH, I’m doing the SouthernWx toss!

Part of me wonders if we go from a blowtorch at the end of this pattern right into the freezer. Someone might have the dates but who remembers in 2015.. I think it was 2015 when a front rolled thru right before the winter storm. We had wind advisory’s and fell into the teens from the 50s that day

Interesting stronger -NAO but stronger -PNA, feel like that western trough would eventually scoot east or hand off energy since energy will be hard to cut , it might take time though but I think early jan would be the timeframe it does so

This map actually looks better than the corresponding 0Z EPS map. Keep in mind that the Euro weeklies are an extension of the 0Z EPS.
