Guess the cold caught up with the moisture. Glad you all got to see some. Rain here in Chatham, and very light at that.Very light snow flurries here in western Raleigh!
Upon closer inspection, and comparing KRAX w/ KAKQ radar reflectivities, looks like even the lowest radar beam is overshooting much the precip in Halifax, Warren, & Vance counties. This means it is likely being generated below 5,000-6,000 feet (850mb ish to sfc). It's gonna be tough, although far from impossinle, to get the Bergeron process going if the 850mb temps where this precip is being generated (apparently) are way above -10C (forecast soundings showed between 0C and -5C). I guess a few isolated spots could be mixing w/ snow perhaps, but this kind of environment actually favors freezing drizzle over snow if sfc temps were below 32F.
I think it certainly helped that temps cooled a bit as the core of the upper trough approachedGuess it worked out! Snow for the Triad and Triangle!
Always under-modeled it seems .. good food for thought for our next system whenever that may end up being hahahaI think it certainly helped that temps cooled a bit as the core of the upper trough approached

...ISOLATED GRAUPEL POSSIBLE A FEW SHOWERS ACROSS THE CHARLESTON
QUAD COUNTY AREA THIS EVENING...
Scattered to numerous showers will impact Berkeley, Dorchester,
Charleston and Colleton County this evening, most especially
between 6 and 9 pm. A couple of these showers might briefly
produce graupel as they move east and southeast through the area.
Graupel is ice or snow pellets that form when waters drops
collect and then freeze on falling snowflakes, forming very small
balls of ice.
Graupel is soft and will easily break apart with an appearance
like Styrofoam balls. Unlike hail, it does not cause any damage.
