Wave just a smidgeon weaker at 84 on the GFS
Wouldn't a high approaching 1040mb keep the low to the south? Can't say I recall any gulf lows tracking further than south GA or northern FL with that strong of a high in place.
CMC has a stronger high than the GFS @72 hours.

I have no idea the final outcome of this GFS run. But just to let you know, the old GFS is usually the last model to eventually get around to the consensus of the other models when we get closer to the final outcome of a storm. It will show hints early and then a myriad of solutions and is stubborn to get in line with other models until the bitter end.
That being said, let's see where this one goes...

appears today the GFS is going to try to run the L up into a 1039 H with new data....yeah right.

Ignoring superfluous specifics, purely from a synoptic standpoint this looks absolutely beautiful, the high is definitely more on par with something we'd see in the good ol days around here.
Wave looks faster now. Nice 1039 riding up top

Not past this one yet but on H5 the secondary energy diving down is looking better.
Timing is off with our High pressure moving east. Needs to be in more of a “tappable” position. Need cold dry air filtering in before precip arrives to make this work for many outside of favored NC areas
I got a feeling, who ever gets hit with the main storm, also gets hit with the secondary part also. So whoever gets it, will get it all. Just a thought.

GFS is rocking at 114 NE GA, upstate SC, and Western NC. Look for big totals this run!

Of course the Low pushes warm air into Eastern NC as usual..... High not in ideal place for eastern NC and VA.

Parts of NC are getting absolutely plastered with heavy snow, this clown map is going to be crazy.
Yeah man I'm even getting a good front end thumping.... good benchmark to show that it is definitely colder this run

I said the secondary energy was looking better on H5 but it kinda looked like that energy hooked up some with this energy.

I hate to say it, but this honestly looks like a run that could verify. Historic storm for W NC and outside of that, very questionable.

of course any front end snow I get then gets washed away.... lol, hope the second piece of energy can produce as it pulls out. But man if I were in NW NC start stocking up
Yep, the same areas that are getting slammed with the main storm will also get the backside event. Insult to misery for the people getting nothing. Heaven for the people getting it.
