HRRR sure has snow beefed up over upstate tonight. Could see an additional inch out of that.

Hug the FV3 all the way, Shane!

Last chance for the Midlands to see at most a dusting tonight when the shortwave moves through. Finger crossed.

Maybe. The Northern Midlands saw some flakes mixing in this morning. Last I checked a few hours ago, the snow growth region is pretty darn dry. If we can't get the flakes to form, we'll end up with drizzle/freezing fog or something like that.

Here is a sounding from the NAM 3KM around the Midlands for the "band" later on. Need deeper moisture! But I wouldn't be surprised to see a brief light snow shower or two.

I find it interesting this winter storm occurred during a strong +NAO. I always thought -NAO was usually needed for most east coast winter storms...maybe that applies more for nor'easters rather than southern sliders?

Each Orange Triange indicates 501-2,000 power outages.

The bulk of the precip must be on the way if I'm going to get another 2 inches. It wasn't doing anything when I left the house to go to work, but 12 miles south towards Raleigh there is light snow at my office.
