The only thing that would save us from a period of SER torch next year would be something like this .. but obviously this is just something fun to look at not something with backing being this far out .. would be one hell of a SSWE
Some comparisons from ICON and GFS at 18z ..ridging leaking up into northern Alaska on the ICON along with what looks like some stronger western -NAO 
One more to show how much we improved on the icon, at day 7 
less ridging in between the 2 troughs so far this run, but not enough to worry yet

I'm not at all upset. It looks just like 12z, which was a great run. 18z did weird things with the TPV getting stuck in Alaska. By no means bad IMO.
The energy in the southwest is getting kicked out this run, won’t be surprised to see a winter storm this run instead of suppression………scratch that still getting sheared out

Remember to lean on the ensembles... We will still get some subtle differences with each run because of the deep blocking taken place. Don't fret over one run.

Too much suppression may be good at this range although I would like to see an actual depiction of a system

Suppressed wave at hr 168 is great.
Still pretty good progression so far, interesting with the way the energy is getting held back in AK lol, looks Feb 2014ish lol

Yucky ridge
Complete drop of the strong west based -NAO .. something the ensembles have stayed consistent on having.. tossing still not that bad of a run but that feature has held strong on ensembles and gfs has been bad with it for a while now
