Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

You may read my experience with Covid as “cocky” but the only reason I bring it up is to kill the fear. I went months never hearing of anyone In my circle contracting the disease and then BOOM I wake up with it one day. Quite sick. Just not for long. Dude I have people I went to high school with, my age and much healthier, and they admittedly still will not leave the house for anything other than essentials..I shared my Covid story on a Type 1 Disbetic Social Media page and you would not believe the feedback I got and the hope my story gave those people like myself with already a barrage of adversity on their plate. I will not be an advocate for fear.

Yes but you're missing the point entirely.

Not everyone (and arguably not even a majority) is going to have the same reaction from the virus you did and you have no idea if you'er going to suffer from any long-term complications from this virus. It's extremely naive and downright ignorant + selfish on your part to think we should totally downplay this to no avail because it wasn't that bad for you. I just hope you do realize there are millions of other people in this world besides yourself that have a very different take on this.

You can have kids walk around instead of running. Just as long as it doesn't get them breathing intensely it should be a good compromise.
But also a singular example. As you may not be having issues in Faytteville Georgia there are clearly cases and examples to the opposite in other places. A co-worker I've known for 20 years is currently hospitalized with it.

Yall have downplayed this every chance you can because you're afraid of the political fallout from our incredibly horrendous response.
I am not concerned with the political fall out. I’m concerned with the tyrannical officials, turning people into informants to strip away freedom and the enormous economic consequences and damage that is jreally starting to ramp up across the globe.

The cautionary tale here and one I hope you take seriously is that not every story is the same with this virus. Yes you got over it quick and that may help someone with type 1 feel at ease........maybe they take their guard down and then get it and their story isnt the same as yours in the end.

The only consistent thing about covid is that it hits everyone differently and nobody knows how it will effect them.
That is true with everything in life. The point is to give fear no quarter in your life. I’m not saying “never be afraid”, I’m saying don’t invite it in to stay at your house and raid your fridge at 2 am. Almost all of the efforts to date to combat this corona virus have been to drive fear into the population. That is an effective way to control them. It is irrational in this particular instance. The world has been played by China. They are the real threat and need to be held accountable. Unfortunately, that means WW III.

Bought another 30 canned goods and 4 big packs of Ramen on the way home from work. I’ve probably got enough food to last 60-90 days
I bought 300 shotgun shells and 500 38 special rounds yesterday afternoon. At worst, I have a lot of target ammo to burn through this spring.

Now I’m worried the website I bought the N95 masks off of might be on delay..I’m just not sure because many places seem to be out of stock the more I dig into it..

These comments are from late February. I was, and for good reason, fearful when this thing started. Throughout the last 6 months my opinion has changed. As a human being with the ability to process information and form coherent thoughts I have been able to form an opinion on the new environment around me. I have come to
the conclusion that Doomsday in the form of a virus is not upon us. But to pretend that I’ve always been this big right winger “the virus is fake they’re just out to get Trump!” just isn’t accurate.

This is just wrong, social distancing, face mask and preventing large gatherings is to help slow the spread to mitigate the issue of overloading hospitals....fear has nothing to do with it.....and LOL about WW3 and China, the irony is you say the purpose of efforts to fight corona are based on driving fear into the population then you turn around and say WW3 is coming lol....talk about fear mongering.

There is no way to know how any particular person might react to the virus when they're exposed to it. There is no way to know if herd immunity will be achieved. There is no way to know if a combination of cheap meds currently available are helpful or if the data is just being manipulated for political gain. There is no way to know if and when a truly effective vaccine will become available. There is no way to know if long-term issues caused by the virus in someone's body will go away. There is no way to know if this virus goes away or comes back every year forever. There is no way to know any of those things for certain at this point.

But one thing I know for sure is that the lasting damage economically, geopolitically, socially, and from the heavy hand of government overreach is going to be far greater than the health impacts of the virus, and it will affect so many more people for far longer.

The road ahead post-virus is going to be much, much harder to travel than many people think. I hope you all are getting mentally and physically prepared for this.

These things arent to drive fear. When ebola was raging tbey didnt tell families to change their traditions on washing their dead relatives to drive fear. They did it to stop the spread. The tactics being deployed are meant to stop or slow the spread as much as possible.

It's people downplaying, refusing to even give these tactics any credence that will be the first to whine that things arent going back to normal.

How do you find all that info on that site? I see the death but how do you pull up the info on the death?
It is definitely not the most straightforward site to use! Scroll down to the heading “COVID 19 over time” then below the chart you will see boxes that say “counties” “top 5 counties” “deaths in GA”, etc.
Click on deaths in GA and then sort by agent or location. If you are on mobile you will have to scroll right to see the whole chart.

Thanks, I see it now and I’ll be interest to see if he had asthma or something like that. From what I read comorbidity is 2 present issues not one. Either way it sucks.

My wife had a patient last night with a cough and fever just under 100......out of abundance of precaution she swabbed her for a covid test. Got the call tonight it was a positive test. At least 1 other positive since then and 3 to 4 more patients all showing symptoms.

Co worker whose son has tested positive 6 weeks apart with 3 negatives mixed in decided to get antibody test. Antibody negative so who knows if he really had it or not.

Our testing has been a joke. Refusing to adopt other tests offered to us early by other countries has set us back IMO.

Very interesting read on testing and how making this change might really help identify cases. It's a decently long read but well worth it.

I was just perusing Worldometers and noticed how even some of the countries that seemed to have things in check in South America (Argentina) are seeing exponential growth now.
