Trump Administration pitching 0% percent payroll tax rest of year due to cornovirus impact.

But by doing that you risk causing families to lose all they have. Smaller companies to go bankrupt. In other words an economic nightmare.I think what everyone is missing about containment and quarantine is the fact that China did prevent it's spread from throughout it's country. Yes, it made it out of China but it did not infect all 1.1 Billion Chinese citizens. They stopped it dead in their tracks under totalitarian rule. They used every trick in their surveillance alter. The question is really how far are American and other countries willing to go?!?

Much of the report focuses on understanding how China achieved what many public health experts thought was impossible: containing the spread of a widely circulating respiratory virus. “China has rolled out perhaps the most ambitious, agile, and aggressive disease containment effort in history,” the report notes.
The most dramatic—and controversial—measure was the lockdown of Wuhan and nearby cities in Hubei province, which has put at least 50 million people under a mandatory quarantine since 23 January. That has “effectively prevented further exportation of infected individuals to the rest of the country,” the report concludes. In other regions of mainland China, people voluntarily quarantined and were monitored by appointed leaders in neighborhoods.
Basically, this would be like putting Washington, Oregon and California under quarantine so it does not spread as much to non-coastal states.
I figure it's way more widespread here than anyone can believe. I know many people who have had similar symptoms the past few weeks but are young and just worked through it. Without mass testing who knows. Even my wife had congestion and a fever recently. They told her it was a sinus infection and sent her home with antibiotics which didnt' work. She kicked it but who knows?Metro Atlanta sucks for the coronavirus. It’s so NOT contained.

Who in the world would complain about any of that? There will be people complaigning about that...….
Yes, would you risk all you have to save a loved one? It's not an easy answer I agree with you.
Who in the world would complain about any of that?

He's not alone in saying that this is the moment to contain coronavirus. We are at an inflection point, according to Thomas Bossert, a former homeland security adviser to President Donald Trump, writing in The Washington Post. It's worth reading his entire piece, but the key point is this:
"Officials must pull the trigger on aggressive interventions. Time matters. Two weeks of delay can mean the difference between success and failure. Public health experts learned this in 1918 when the Spanish flu killed 50 million to 100 million people around the globe. If we fail to take action, we will watch our health-care system be overwhelmed."
He compared the lax early actions in Italy, which is now under national lockdown, with the more strict and invasive early actions in Singapore and Hong Kong. (Read this for a taste of what the first day of containment was like in Italy.)
Trickle down economics is certainly the way to go and will definitely trickle down the consumer at a point where consumer spending will probably fall basically thru the floor, this is a fantastic idea I see absolutely nothing wrong with accelerating our national debt! /sTrump Administration pitching 0% percent payroll tax rest of year due to cornovirus impact.

Nothing like reducing the budget by 30 something percent to choke and kill the US government's spending! That's about how much comes from payroll taxes from what I can find. No way this flies. If it does, here comes a depression because the government can't afford to run.Trickle down economics is certainly the way to go and will definitely trickle down the consumer at a point where consumer spending will probably fall basically thru the floor, this is a fantastic idea I see absolutely nothing wrong with accelerating our national debt! /s
[x] doubt this gets passed in congress, at this point you’re having to rely entirely on Trump’s word which has meant absolutely nothing lately. Yeah good luck with this
Please don't start spreading unsubstantiated nonsense like this.Is it true African Americans are sig less likely to catch it?
They could use use the money from the SC gas tax to cover part of the void. Because it sure isn’t going towards the roads. Either way, I think we can manage. Just print more money. It hasn’t stopped them before.Nothing like reducing the budget by 30 something percent to choke and kill the US government's spending! To be honest, as much as Trump has desired imposing tariffs on foreign imports (triggering trade wars in the process), I actually think now would be a good time to levy a substantial tariff on OPEC crude oil in order to increase the federal budget (decrease budget deficit) & protect domestic oil and shale and energy companies that could become decimated by $20/barrel oil prices. Given that we’re one of the largest consumers of OPEC, this would be a good move imoNothing like reducing the budget by 30 something percent to choke and kill the US government's spending! Worse comes to worse and they decide not to sell to us or what have you, we can always buy from someone else or better yet, substantially increase domestic production. Tbh, it’s a win-win, Democrats would like the idea of a larger federal budget due to the higher import tax while Republicans would flock to the idea that we’re also at the same time trying to protect American businesses from going under that also rely directly or indirectly on crude oil.To be honest, as much as Trump has desired imposing tariffs on foreign imports (triggering trade wars in the process), I actually think now would be a good time to levy a substantial tariff on OPEC crude oil in order to increase the federal budget (decrease budget deficit) & protect domestic oil and shale and energy companies that could become decimated by $20/barrel oil prices. Shouldn’t Savannah cancel its St Patrick’s Day Parade and other celebrations? As of now, they haven’t They usually attract hundreds of thousands of visitors and this is in the top 3 or so in the entire country! Is this a disaster waiting to happen? Opinions? Imo, they’d be incredibly stupid not to!!
It was trending on Twitter I was curious. They said Africa has very few cases and further east where it’s been bad the African American cases were lower too. Please don't start spreading unsubstantiated nonsense like this.
One has to wonder how the upcoming NCAAT will be affected as well. That's usually a big draw and with games played all over the country it would enhance the spread as well if they still have it. Or maybe they will still have the NCAAT just empty stadiums?
For the state of NC, correct?Been hearing lots of inside sources telling me most schools are now about to announce all online school coming this Monday

Incorrect. Mostly a few larger liberal schools will move to online like Appalachian State. Due to the mild winter, Wilkes County Schools will have a long spring break anyway to clean schools for 1-2 weeks. For the state of NC, correct?
How is this "trickle down"? All wage earners have payroll taxes deducted directly from their paychecks, which means take-home pay immediately increases by 7.65% per paycheck. I've been in the tax business for 16 years (I'm an AFSP certified tax preparer) and have long argued that the payroll tax should be completely eliminated for low income taxpayers - it's the most regressive part of our tax code. If this happens, I hope it's a permanent change.

As I posted yesterday, the N.C. DPI is making those contingency plans, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that it is a certainty at this time.Been hearing lots of inside sources telling me most schools are now about to announce all online school coming this Monday
