My son's best friend just tested positive. He's a 15 year old 3 sport athlete and his mom said he's never been this sick. A beloved former teacher who taught most of our town to cook is on a vent with bilateral covid pneumonia. If you don't know anyone with it, you are very very lucky!
 
In somewhat good news, my wife just found out that she has COVID antibodies. Her primary care doctor tested for it recently when they drew blood for her annual physical. This is a relief for us (for now) because my wife has a potentially severe underlying condition: a kidney disease brought on by an autoimmune disease. We're thankful, although we know she could potentially be infected again.
 
I have a few extended family members who have tested positive for the virus. My aunt, cousin, and cousin-in-law got it (all fairly minor symptoms), and one of my second uncles died of it (granted, he was very unhealthy and was clearly in a very high risk group, so it wasn’t a huge surprise).

I'd really like to see a unified approach to this with our allies. If the United States tries to move against China unilaterally, like we did with the economy and tariffs, it will not have the desired outcome I believe most of us wish for. But, if we can align with our North American, European and potentially South American partners we could put meaningful pressure on China.
 
I know of 2 dozen people that have tested positive, none had to be hospitalized thankfully. Most had very mild symptoms with a couple of asymptomatic and 2 that took a little over 2 weeks to completely shake it.

Btw, NC Gov set to speak today..... rumor is much tighter guidelines are coming, just don't know if those will be ordered today or this is just a "pre-warning".

Wow.... I’m super athletic, and I had it and was asymptomatic, very very strange virus, my aunt right now has bilateral pneumonia with it and low oxygen
 
My son's best friend and his sister(she tested positive too) are some better today but his mom has it now. I'm dropping a few things off for them this afternoon. Testing is so bad in this area that they told her not to test. Several places are out of the rapid tests too. Why is this still happening? Just ridiculous. Alabama set another record for cases at 3376 and new record for hospitalizations at 1785. This is not even from Thanksgiving yet ?

Just talked about the coming vaccines nothing about our current phase 2.74657394 or whatever it is which is set to expire at end of the week.

Well, that’s good at least. I’m nervous the hammer is going to drop again at some point. I’m pleasantly surprised it hasn’t already with the election behind him. It’s just so nice the fortunes of so many rest on a single man for nearly a year now, with limited oversight.

Well when asked about it by a couple of reporters he kept stating "all options are on the table", my guess he will drop the hammer when we least expect it with very little time for anyone to prepare for it. He's really not good a decision making

I think he said something like that last week, too. It’s like he’s threatening us if we act up, like we are children.

You dont need to wait unilatterally. Just like we did with economy,tariffs it was a major boost economically. We are benefitting from it today and could even more going forward assuming we dont go right back to the ways we where doing things. NEED TO CONTINUE TO GET OUT OF BED WITH THESE CLOWNS. All these politicians since the 90s,both sides of the aisle let lobbyist for pharma, Tech companies, textiles,auto,furniture etc drive a globalist agenda that was the main catylist destroying middle class America and turning small rural towns into decaying ghost towns. Then the icing on the cake was creating Communist Beast. China was a dog on the world stage up until 90's rolled around. Astounded how much outsourcing we allowed . Dont even make penicillin in this country anymore. All this for dirty politicians to butter their pockets and their families pockets.
You lead and do whats right. Regardless what other countries think. If they want to be a prisoner to china, let em have at it.

How,How,How if mask are effective. How are we expierencing all these new cases? All I hear on the MSM in ear shot record this,record that compared to peak last spring? If mask being worn by all us is so needed,effective then explain how we are getting opposite desired result? Has the virus mutated? If so then sounds to me like we will deal with this forever, like we do the seasonal flu.

Distancing in general has gone down and gatherings are likely up, especially around the holidays. Might be possible kids are carriers at schools as well which cram them into hallways like sardines. Sure your kid might not get it but if they bring it home to someone more vulnerable, then that's one way. I expect us to surge more soon and then after Christmas.

Valid points but I never hear anything about surges after mass protest/riots and presidential victory celebrations.
 
ALDH were honest enough several weeks ago to admit they were mining for Covid deaths in the previous months, but this is nuts.

 
Gov. Cooper played up the vaccines yesterday, very upbeat about when, how effective and who with no mention of further restrictions. My guess is, as well as reliable info and other rumors, he is setting us up for one last mega restriction/lockdown that leads up to when vaccines are distributed. Possibly even going as far as to say something along the lines of "we're making progress but once everyone or most everyone gets the vaccine we can relax those restrictions". Just speculation at this juncture....

Still would be a record without the backlogged data I believe. At least this data was from last week and not several months ago as has happened in the past. I live in Marshall County and we had more cases than tests. I wonder if Huntsville Hospital Systems was part of the backlogged data or an independent lab. However our positivity rate was almost 50% yesterday for the 14 day average so it might not make that much of a difference.

What nobody knows is how many cases would there now be without masks. I think you and others here are smart enough to realize that there could have been a much higher number of cases had there been no mask wearing. Correlation is not at all equivalent to causation but I shouldn't have to tell you folks this as that's stating the obvious.

Well it could be that wearing a mask or face covering is contributing to infection. Maybe surface contamination is much more conducive to transmission. When you adjust, remove and don your mask, you increase the chances of moving some virus from your hands to your face, where it really wants to enter your system. Look at where people store their masks and how long they wear them. There is no way those things are staying sanitary. Masks are useless. If you want to reduce your chance of contracting the virus, you have to wear a full hazmat suit with it's own source of oxygen. Cases don't matter because testing is terribly unreliable, asymptomatic spread is very minimal, and proximity to someone who has tested positive is counted as a "case", so whether we have many more or not is irrelevant. Where are we on excess deaths? Time to check the stats at the CDC.
