We aren't even testing sick people for this virus, how can we know it's not everywhere? My buddy is a Dr. and he said the only way you get tested is if you have been to Asia recently and have symptoms... he is worried about bringing this to his home. The best way to hide a outbreak is to not test for it.

Exactly. Plus we don’t have correct numbers. China labeled many deaths as complications from Pneumonia. Not the virus itself which caused the virus. Same way probably many govts will cover up.

Yep. Called it. :) I knew when they put California under a a state of emergency, it was only a matter of time till they announced what I'm sure they already knew. Bet additional cases will start magically appearing now. NY probably next.

Backlash from the world over 2000 preventable flu deaths? China has millions of Muslims locked up and children making our products with no backlash. This is a country that probably has 2000 people die from AC units falling out of windows on people every year.

Yes, but China has already scared the world due to SARS which they hid and the several H5N1 bird flu cases throughout the years. People in other countries don't care about window units killing Chinese, they do care about China botching another pandemic and killing their children and destroying their life. News media loves pandemics and the Swine flu proved it gets hits.

I think we have a better hold on how to stop the spread of viruses in the modern world (at least in the more developed countries) than we did in the early 1900’s.

I don’t think you will see this reach the proportions that the Spanish Flu did. There were so many extenuating circumstances with that. Of course today air travel is a thing so there’s that, but once again I go back to common sense prevention techniques. The problem is two words. COMMON and SENSE. It seems that a large segment of the population have none. It’s either that or a willful disregard for their fellow man. I’m not sure whether it’s ignorance or apathy. TBH, I don’t know and I don’t care. LOL
On one hand, I agree with you. But on the other hand, over and over history has shown us the spectacular failure of this way of thinking. This time is different, because we're so much smarter now.

Yeah, it's here and probably widespread, just have to wait and see what it does.

China has never acted this way before, no country has in the history of the world. I hope it's not what it seems

I think it is partly because it did get out of a lab. I think that theory is correct. It may not have been a bio-weapons lab, and just a research lab but the risk is still high. If it is a research lab, who says they don't get a contagious strain of H5N1 released due to negligence. If it did get out of any lab, they will stop at nothing to hide it.

Hopefully no big deal but my worry is people get sick with pneumonia and we run outta antibiotics and intravenous fluids to treat them. What happens when you are watching someone die and nothing can be done? Especially if parents watch there kids die? Ones with immune troubles like from chemo? Bitterness and anger I’m sure will happen.

It's hard to know if it being man made is a good thing. There could be a cure if it is or it could be captain Tripps

Viral pneumonia doesn't respond to antibiotics

It's strange what's happening in Iran. They are not aware of the total cases or it's a much more deadly mutation. They have 19 deaths with under 100 infected
