Antibiotics don't do anything for viruses. The fact people still think they do is why antibiotics continue to be overused by people so we have antibiotic resistant strains of bacteria.
I made reference to this a couple of days ago.

Agree and you've been making this point for days now.... the mortality rate is most likely skewed high because there is a very good probability that it is far more widespread then we currently have data. I think many people panic when they think about how widespread it may already be, but on the flip side of that, it would mean the mortality rate is much less. Obviously that would be a good thing
And yet WHO refuses to pull the trigger on a pandemic designation...

2017 for me. I am contracting since training their SF and police. Mostly CQB. I also still do some work up in NAS Oceana with DEVGRU black squadron. There is opportunity there when I get home but would require a move back which my wife wouldnt be thrilled about. She sacrificed enough so this is prob. my farewell party. Much respect for PJ's! Those guys are bad ass.....
Also a problem are people stopping antibiotics prematurely. I am not 100% sure, but I believe it's been a long time since we've developed any new antibiotics.

Exactly and if so then that makes the death rate pretty lowNow we have two big data points, Italy and the cruise ship. Both show asymptomatic cases are atleast 60% and that is probably still too low. If that is the case with our healthcare, general health, the CDCs reluctance to test and then the amount of mild cold to flu like cases, this is likley spreading across the US like wildfire unnoticed. For instance all 6 of us had the flu last year(the twins wasn't here yet) only my younger daughter was offcially diagnosed because she got it last and was the youngest(although she made a mockery of the flu and made us look like wimps)
Knowing that and how most people just stay home. It could be everywhere. I think as we learn more about it, we can learn how to keep this thing from impacting our elders.
I wouldn't count on the Tehran government to be especially cooperative, their Ministry of Health has been concealing the severity of the outbreak all along.
I'd put more stock into 192 hr DGEX snow forecasts than trusting what the Iranian gov't says.
I try to stay out of VB as much as possible. Living an hour away makes it possible. The only time I go up there is to Oceana commissary and Lynnhaven Mall.
There's a pretty big difference between concern over CoV-19 and it actually being officially a pandemic.
I only take issue with the histrionic language being employed ("WHO raises coronavirus threat assessment to its highest level") - if they haven't designated it as a pandemic then obviously they're not at the "highest level".

I retired E-7 and I will make a little over twice my ending salary this contract. I stayed longer last year and it was 3 times my salary. There is risk but the money is too good. I am hitting 50 this year so my time on the bullet train is coming to an end. Gonna be hard because the last 4 months doing pretty much nothing has been boring......My wife is killing it in this real estate market so I might just fish and drink beer the rest of my life!
But NOT in VB....LOL
Yeah I can see how confusion would arise on your end and for many in the public. It's kind of like the NWS issuing a blizzard warning but then coming out and saying they're not actually sure if it's gonna snow at all in your backyard.
Well this is interesting, especially considering that (as far as I know) there aren't any confirmed cases in the KSA...

Yikes. Sorry to hear that man. That's a pretty rough course right there. Glad you're better now. I took Cipro for something once, and it jacked my stomach up for a couple of months. It wasn't a secondary infection or anything, just a reaction to the antibiotic. But it was brutal for a while.restricted area watch for this term to start being used... Sounds better than lockdown I suppose
-649 and rising rapidly now. Up over 300 points in the last few minutes. Probably going to get a strong run to the close from here. It's time.I think the switch can't be flipped after 2:30? Look out for a big drop soon?
Now apparently a dog has tested positive ... smh ...![]()
This story scares me to death. I'm with ya. Had similar and it's horrible. Couldn't even leave the house. Gut health is so important. If it gets wonky and sick, that's it. It will shut ya down. They say like 70% of our immunity is in the gut so since we are all worried about flu's and viruses, should be taking extra care of our guts. Probi's etc. Vitamin K. Your leg looks awful in that pic..geezI'm gonna get a little personal here. September of 2018 just before hurricane Florence hit I had a MRSA infection. It was severe and almost landed me in the hospital. I was treated with a bag of (sp) rocefin IV antibiotic in the ER and then given 7 days of keflex along with 10 days of clindamycin.....the clindamycin was BRUTAL but it cleared the infection.
Fast forward a month and I started having stomach issues. The first day i realized something was wrong it was like clock work every 45 minutes or so I was heading to the bathroom. This continued to worsen rapidly until I was back in the ER after going to the bathroom around 40 to 50 times a day for 3 or 4 days in a row. Tested positive for Cdiff and had reoccurrence through March of 2019. Took me 5 months of 21 day treatments using vancomycin. Quite possibly the worst 5 months of my life.
I then developed somewhat of a phobia of antibiotics. I have not used them since the MRSA infection. I'm just ot willing to go on antibiotics unless I'm dying.

my bet is a heavy sell off right before close ... wouldn't be surprised if it drops down > 1000.-649 and rising rapidly now. Up over 300 points in the last few minutes. Probably going to get a strong run to the close from here. It's time.
Yep I doubt people want to hold over weekend and have a bunch of cases pop up in the US. If that happens I will not be surprised if it hits 22k by end of next weekAnd here she goes ?↘
My guess is just over 1050This might end up being worse than yesterday.. can we hit -1500?
Severe ulcerative colitis flare up with a moderate to likely severe case of cdiff from October/novemebr 2018 - February/ March 2019. You aren’t alone and I understand the mental side affects quite well... failed two classes in college , lost 23 pounds in 5 weeks ( regained them all +10 more pounds in 6 weeks after recovery ) . Then doctor tried to prescribe some super heavy medicine that would require monthly hospital visits and put me at risk for cancer .... visited another doctor put me on balsalazide for the ulcers and by then the cdiff had resolved as well. A mild stomach ache scares me now.Yeah I take a probiotic at least 3 days a week. Not to sound hyperbolic but unless you've gone through moderately severe cdiff there is no understanding the physical and for me some of the mental side effects. I'm literally scared to take any antibiotic and fear a reoccurrence of cdiff with phobia like fear.
It's hard to believe this is incompetence or accidental. It feels much more like an intentional spin and delay tactic that's part of a greater plan.![]()
Key Missteps at the CDC Have Set Back Its Ability to Detect the Potential Spread of Coronavirus
The CDC designed a flawed test for COVID-19, then took weeks to figure out a fix so state and local labs could use it. New York still doesn’t trust the test’s accuracy.www.propublica.org
