I wish our county leaders were smart enough to do that. We haven’t heard a peep out of Paulding county leaders. Stores and restaurants in Hiram are wide open

Same for my area. And parents are letting their kids hang out at parks together like it's no big deal. I'd say it's 50/50 between people who are appalled and those that don't seem to give a damn.
The Kemp EO is online now. This is the part relevant to business operations:

What's your take on that? Restaurants open as long as the tables are 6 feet apart? Same for retail?

However my company who makes a product that's labeled a certified medical device has made no mention at all about paperwork for us to come to and from work. Why is your CEO doing that but not ours who is acting like business as usual. You would think if they had the same info of a shutdown they would be gearing up for that and we are not.

Because it’s fake and nothing like this is imminent as the Governor said today.

Shelter in place rumors should be deleted from this thread until it’s actually announced. There’s no advantage to posting these rumors but to spread them.

They’ve taken steps to shut down the parks here as much as they can. Playgrounds, tennis courts, and such are roped off.

It's probably mixed across the state. Like my county has closed public facilities but at least for now the mayor is encouraging people to use the outdoor greenspace (trails/playgrounds/etc). The county to the north however has even closed things outdoors.

Which, for that matter, that county is doing something that's really confusing right now. They're not closing places, but they're telling people to try to strictly follow the CDC rules, and it's even going as far as 10 customers at most in grocery stores. About as vague as what Kemp said over an hour ago.

They will if we declare martial law and put the military out on the streets. I do not mean the National Guard either.

Ever hear of a little law called Posse Comitatus?

Edit: the only military branch that can operate as law enforcement on American soil is the USCG.

That's how I read it, distancing of at least 6 feet for all types of businesses, with no more than 10 people allowed in the business establishment at any given time. Bars/nightclubs were the only businesses specifically singled out for total closure.

Uh how about NO. We dont need the govt usurping even more authority. If they are allowed to "get around" it now they will always find a reason to "get around" it later.
Situations like this always end up being a big power grab for the government. Always. This one will be no different...not in the least. It'll be necessary and for our own good. Just watch.

So does that mean as long as the business is big enough to keep people 6’ apart they can have more than 10?

No, you have to keep people 6' apart *and* limit it to 10 (at least that's how I interpret it). Same rule applies for nonprofits (churches).

So if it means this virus goes crazy then so be it. Some of you seem to want this virus to get out of hand.

Why would the Congress bill outcome affect Trump's decision on national guidelines?

My guess is passing a stimulus bill will (allegedly) expand UI and hand out the free money, so keeping things closed down longer won't hurt as much (it will).

So that’s all businesses correct? Lol what a cluster you know what. It’s going to be up to local authorities to enforce whether a business has more than 10 people in it lol

Gotcha. Well at least I can see the logic. I'm hoping guideline decisions are based on a lot more than this bill. (we're gonna need a lot more to get through this economically)

Edit: I don't agree w/ the logic, but at least I can 'see' it.

Alachua County and the city of Gainesville have ordered the closure of all “non-essential” businesses countywide in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, effective midnight.

In a publicized statement Monday, Alachua County and Gainesville city leaders issued a stay-at-home order for residents countywide, and ordered all non-essential businesses to close.

Grocery stores, gas stations, banks, health care providers, mailing services, auto supply stores and laundromats are allowed to remain open — with significant restrictions.

Restaurants are only allowed to have takeout and delivery services.

The restrictions are meant to discourage residents from venturing outside their homes unless they absolutely must.
“While we appreciate the sacrifice that many have made so far, it is not enough,” said Robert Hutchinson, the county commission chairman. “There is only one way to reduce the transmission of this new disease and that is to stop its spread from one person to another by isolating ourselves for its incubation period.”

Per the order, the number of customers allowed inside retail establishments at a given time has been severely restricted. Only one person is allowed inside a business per 1,000 square foot. So for a 20,000-square-foot store, no more than 20 customers can be inside at once.

“What we’re seeing in retail establishments is too many people cramming into small places,” Hutchinson said. “What we want to do is ration the number of people going through the doors.”

Alachua County has the highest rate of COVID-19 infection per capita in the state, with 37 positive cases so far, as of the state’s Monday morning tally.

So for grocery stores/Walmart, they'll restrict how many people go in. I hope that means they'll give some thought to lines forming outside, and organize it so that people aren't close together.

I think they can get around that if they need to.

Per the 2007 Defense Authorization Bill which repealed the 2006 Defense Authorization Bill which amended the 1807 Insurrection Act:

(1) The President may employ the armed forces, including the National Guard in Federal service, to–
(A) restore public order and enforce the laws of the United States when, as a result of a natural disaster, epidemic, or other serious public health emergency, terrorist attack or incident, or other condition in any State or possession of the United States, the President determines that–
(i) domestic violence has occurred to such an extent that the constituted authorities of the State or possession are incapable of maintaining public order; and
(ii) such violence results in a condition described in paragraph (2); or
(B) suppress, in a State, any insurrection, domestic violence, unlawful combination, or conspiracy if such insurrection, violation, combination, or conspiracy results in a condition described in paragraph (2).
(2) A condition described in this paragraph is a condition that–
(A) so hinders the execution of the laws of a State or possession, as applicable, and of the United States within that State or possession, that any part or class of its people is deprived of a right, privilege, immunity, or protection named in the Constitution and secured by law, and the constituted authorities of that State or possession are unable, fail, or refuse to protect that right, privilege, or immunity, or to give that protection; or
(B) opposes or obstructs the execution of the laws of the United States or impedes the course of justice under those laws.

This is the Peoples Republic of Gainesville ... In other words, the only bastion of idiocy in north FL ... the only thought here is how high can we tax and charge for electricity and water and curb side pickup and ... not repair potholes ...

Yes to all businesses, no to local authorities. Per the EO, the Georgia Department of Public health holds the enforcement authority statewide, so they can order a business (or place of worship) to be shut down if they are in violation of the order.

The last time US Military forces were used on American soil was when the Insurrection Act was invoked by Bush I and the 1st Marine Division and 7th Infantry Division were sent to California to help curtail the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

So do we think NC is gonna issue a mandate tomorrow ?

I think it’s getting close. I’ve heard this evening that the hospitals in the state have now asked him to do so.

All NC gas stations will be shutdown if they do not comply with orders to turn off self serve drinks and bakery items. Same for essential warehouses.
