Coronavirus (Stay on Topic)

Got gas for $1.34 in Troutman, NC today. I hear no connection to corona but seriously I think there is some connection.

So Kemp is ordering the medically fragile to shelter in place. What an idiot, it’s not the medically fragile that is out spreading this virus. Yea maybe closing bars and restaurants will help some, but all he is doing is slapping another bandaid on an out of control problem

Got an email from Roy coopers office that said an announcement is coming tomorrow Am WTf why did I get it lol

He sent that to everyone who donated to his campaign. ?

But seriously, I'm not a fan of announcing this at end of day for an 'announcement' tomorrow morning. That's a lot of time for rumors and misinformation to get out.

I live in Alabama!!! I would never donate to his campaign

Ok who that watched that coward of a gov in Georgia can explain what he said? I’m more confused now than before

It was very confusing. Sounded like bars and nightclubs closed.

Restaurants open as long as they keep people 6 feet apart? I'm confused if this is what was said cause I don't get how they can enforce it. I mean a hostess at a restaurant is going to seat everyone and be within 6 feet. Dept of health enforcing?

But something about no events more than 10 people unless they can guarantee 6 feet apart. Again, questionable?

I don't know why he asked Mayor Bottoms to wait on that. At least she seems to have a pair and ready to make some tough decisions.

Not that I like the NC governor but even he knows restaurants are essential if grocery stores can’t keep stock. GA gov sounds dumb. A lot of the elderly here are doing Cracker Barrel to go.
It is bars and nightclubs to close here in Georgia, restaurants are still open, still not even a statewide restriction to take out only.

All essential warehouses in NC now MUST tape the floor showing to keep 6ft distance. All self serve drinks/coffee will be shutdown by the health department. Water will remain available. This is from my boss.

Per a doctor I just heard, it will likely take til late summer for the antimalaria drug trials to finish to prove it would help with this virus.

Why that long? If we start giving it to patients who or are hours or days away from death and they turn around quickly we should be seeing results by the end of this weekend.

I get side effects and stuff but this is about saving lives as quickly as possible. If they dont roll these drugs out sooner rather than later if they start working then plenty of deaths would've been avoidable.

I feel like I watched a man read off his achievements on a resume! Medically fragile and sick people stay home???? I want to know how this is going to help those people who are essential and have to be at work when there are thousands still not staying home!

Exactly. The AJC does not mention the restaurants. Obvious fail in communication.

I mean, the guy isn't even catching us up to states that have stopped dine-in?!? WTF

I agree - I have stayed home for 9 days now except take out service and Wal Mart pickup grocery service. My wife has numerous heath issues so we need to be extremely careful. This doesn’t work if other people keep going out like everything is normal.

My -- is through the roof with this clown, He took no input from medical experts begging him to do the right thing because Georgia is near the date of no return.

So is the mayor going to issue a shelter in place ?

Probably, the order was already written from what I read earlier. Several communities in GA have started curfews and shelter in place not waiting on the governor. He is out of his league with a state this size. I think we are #5 in deaths. SMDH

Nope. Only for the medically fragile and if you are already sick with or without covid-19. Everything else is hunky dory-
Oh he did close bars and nightclubs I think, couldn't tell with all the prattling on about what he's done up to this date. (Sorry I'm a bit bitter-family members that work in non-essential jobs are still at work and could get sick and are just "millennial" enough to think they won't get sick and if they do they probably won't seek medical help)

**edited- sorry thought that said gov, not mayor! I hope she does but it won't take care of the suburbs, just Atlanta.

So at least in Cobb County, GA all restaurants around our home are closed except for takeout. All public parks closed now. All stores closed except grocery, pharmacy, home imp.
Still no updates on schools, which are back in session on April 1. We all know that isn’t happening because our kid’s teacher sent home work assignments through Apr 17. So clearly it’s been decided just haven’t told public yet. As parents, we should be told because I’d much rather know up front so we can plan.

Cuomo says let’s close this down. Cooper says let’s close this down. De Santis says let’s close this down. Northam says let’s close this down.

Kemp’s says HOLD MY BEER!

Well the side effects could kill them later.

with all the “essential” loopholes in states that have shut down how much difference would it make if Kemp had shut us down? My county is already shut down relative to some.

Same thing here in Athens. Our "shelter in place" ordinance that took effect on Friday closed some businesses, but the list of "essential" businesses allowed to remain open was ridiculous. And the public park 1 mile from my house was jammed with people all afternoon on Saturday. ?‍♂️

They’ve taken steps to shut down the parks here as much as they can. Playgrounds, tennis courts, and such are roped off.

I wish our county leaders were smart enough to do that. We haven’t heard a peep out of Paulding county leaders. Stores and restaurants in Hiram are wide open

Been following the GameStop drama when they announced they were essential. They took a massive hit on brand and everything with that one based on public feedback on FB
