YEA, its a total waste of cold as always here. At least it isnt quite as cold as yesterday. hopefully the models will continue to warm

People shouldn't want ANY type bad weather with those people still dealing with what their dealing with. People just wants what THEY want and don't think about others. It's sad really what some people wish for

The snowfall totals were down on one op run still two weeks out and people are freaking out.

This is the GFS that for a long time told us we were not even going to get cold correct? Then caved to the Euro? Lol got it.

Some worried about the GFS OP when the EPS still has a 3" Snow mean very far south!
If you're just looking at the overall pattern, then yeah. But people (me included) tend to ride the model details for storms too far out of range.

Imo the system around the 5th always had a chance to be biased north. In the big picture that's OK since that's the wave that taps the deeper cold and sets the stage for a much better pattern after
If you look at the gfs trend here (which is wonky) it does seem to be picking up on the more southerly movement of the system the euro has. Just not generating the full storm as much.
The 6z GFS is literally wave after wave after wave and is setting up again at the end of the run. Sign me up.
I think that euro is The Best single fantasy run I’ve ever seen

I’m sorry I see huge potential in the 6z GFS. Not eye candy like some others but the pattern and energy are there.

I think I'm the only person on here looking at these D10+ solutions and knowing they are going to change and just wondering how we are going to hold the line. I do not want to be seeing this until we get inside D6 on the operationals because it ruins expectations and makes you constantly go back to these idealized runs to see how we can get back to them, which we know we never will.
You're not alone. Anytime I see > 192 hours on the maps posted, I just scroll past them.
This is a general reminder that this thread is for complaint about the weather and model runs and for general banter.
This thread (or any thread) is not for complaining about other members, being passive aggressive toward other members, trolling other members, criticizing other members, or trying to upset other members.
This thread is not for repeating the same thing over and over (like "who wants cold without snow?"). You were heard and understood the first time.
Also, please let's stop with the "people who are interested extreme weather are bad because extreme weather hurts people" narrative. Nobody here (as far as I know) wants to see people get hurt. We're all here because we are fascinated by weather. Nobody is here to talk about 72 degrees and sunny skies.

I agree. But it is kind of fun seeing these historic solutions being printed out. It seems like it's been years since we've consistently seen fantasy storms and severe cold, even in the LR.

The heat enthusiasts are out of their caves. Be mindful and remember this week: Don’t take the rage bait. It’s never worth it.
I understand it, I get caught up in it myself even though I know better. We're all desperate and the pattern holds some promise, so we let ourselves indulge in it. That's not to say I don't like the potential, I absolutely do, but I watch NWP for other regions and they still do the same rug pulls and it's going to happen - things will change massively before we hone in on a legitimate < D6 threat on the ops.

It's going to be rough when @Rain Cold gets excited and then I realize I'm still screwed.

We still don’t have a threat to track yet.. and we never will outside of day 7… but the more long range hits that show up on models/ensembles, the more likely it is a legit threat will materialize… so it’s not futile to follow, imo.
