Misc Cold Season Complaining

I understand it, I get caught up in it myself even though I know better. We're all desperate and the pattern holds some promise, so we let ourselves indulge in it. That's not to say I don't like the potential, I absolutely do, but I watch NWP for other regions and they still do the same rug pulls and it's going to happen - things will change massively before we hone in on a legitimate < D6 threat on the ops.
Well maybe the more extreme they are now, when they finally change, it will still be in the realm of wintry, just minor events, here one day gone tomorrow. Heck I'd be happy with something like that at this point

Who the hell wants cold but not the snow. there's still ppl in Tents here in Asheville!!!
I understand what you are saying, however, a lot of people in our ski industry depend on the cold. I myself am rooting for just enough cold and snow to make everyone happy, but nothing life threatening like the models are currently showing.

I agree. But it is kind of fun seeing these historic solutions being printed out. It seems like it's been years since we've consistently seen fantasy storms and severe cold, even in the LR.
And after the last few years, I'm sure a lot of us were questioning if we would ever get a winter storm again. With the models spitting out fantasy storms, they at least calculate that there is still a way for it to snow/ice.

Ski industries are toast due to climate change already

This is a general reminder that this thread is for complaint about the weather and model runs and for general banter.

This thread (or any thread) is not for complaining about other members, being passive aggressive toward other members, trolling other members, criticizing other members, or trying to upset other members.

This thread is not for repeating the same thing over and over (like "who wants cold without snow?"). You were heard and understood the first time.

Also, please let's stop with the "people who are interested extreme weather are bad because extreme weather hurts people" narrative. Nobody here (as far as I know) wants to see people get hurt. We're all here because we are fascinated by weather. Nobody is here to talk about 72 degrees and sunny skies.

AAnd lastly, please use the ignore feature if someone is annoying to you.

Thank you!
That’s not true I am here to talk about sunny and 72! And yes, use the ignore feature instead of blowing up mods with reports!

RDU's 4" events since 2000...and if you go back to the 90's we had a 4" event in 1989, 1993 and 1996, and we know how bad the 90's were. So this stretch from 2018 to now what will be 2025 is the longest stretch going without a 4" that I can find looking back to 1980.

In before Drizzle Snizzle says 1989 isn't in the 90s. 🙂

This 100%!! I just don't get people wanting double digit snowfall and life threatening cold, That just makes no sense to me!

I literally stayed awake in my bed texting my Dad after that euro run until about 2 AM. He said this reminds him of the 1980s. Can’t wait to see where we go today and am fully ready for my pain, but usually the good trends have already stopped and the threat has vanished. Fun time of year!

i would advise caution guys, although i feel pretty good about some sort of miller a during the literal "this is when we get miller a's" pattern. main goal until we get inside seven days is to have a hit or two on the operationals and keep the ensembles enthusiastic

The rug has been pulled. Slow trends in the wrong direction rarely reverse. We have gone slowly from Northern NC getting 12-24 inches to eastern NC getting a storm to the se NC coast getting some snow to the FLA panhandle getting snow. I doubt it gets better from here.
this isn't a trend i would look very far into. if i still lived in wilmington i would feel pretty good about where we sit currently

I'm going to break out my parachute pants and start break dancing.

Friendly reminder to not feed the trolls. We are working behind the scenes to make sure the entire moderating staff is on the same page before acting to remove some of the posters here who are obviously being antagonistic on purpose and not adding value to the forum.

I'm talking about rooting for extreme Weather, Like rooting for a hurricane and then one like Helene hit.
It's not likely a 1-2" snow is gonna kill too many
See my screen name.

I'm fascinated by extreme weather, particularly winter weather and hurricanes. Tornados, not so much since those can take lives no matter what preparation one may take outside of living in a dedicated storm shelter.

Yeah, I'm the guy who wants 2" of ice and no power for months, lol.
