Man it snows West of the Apps with ease. Eastern TN has had like 100 Winter weather events so far this Winter. Please do something different.

I don’t think Eastern TN is West of the Apps. Don’t the Apps go through Eastern TN ?

I seem to remember a time when the mountains actually helped north ga and the Carolinas get snow/ice but it's been so long I'm starting to wonder if it was just a fever dream. I Hope classic cad winter storms are still possible

CAD (cold air damming) does, but we can't see to figure out the pieces of the puzzle to do that right anymore.

Cold air the last few years has been more to the central US, not east, so the mountains have been a barrier to the cold getting to us. When the cold makes it east, the mountains help us to lock in. The way I see it anyway.

Yeh I was just explaining how the mountains help us & how it hasn't meant a whole lot lately because we can't properly get the pieces together to take advantage of a CAD.

I completely agree on the theory of cold air having an issue getting over the Apps, especially Arctic air. There has been a prime example of it for the last few years. But I think our main issue is a poorly positioned trough.
