Misc Cold Season Complaining

Maybe I’m by myself on this but a little flizzard isn’t gonna do it for me this year. We are due. I don’t care anything about clippers and snow globe events. Give me a big dog or it’s a waste. I have a feeling it’s gonna be the latter.

Well I got news for ya. you living in the wrong place along with a lot of people on here. Has everyone forgotten this is the friggin south?? If you want big dog snow storms you need to live up North! Some of us live down here just to stay away from that 💩

2022 was a big dog imo. If I can get something like that I’ll be happy. I’m not asking for a foot just give me 4-5 inches that stays on the ground for at-least a day.

So, I totally disregarded the upcoming pattern because I thought it was all fifteen days away until I saw the most recent runs that saw the pattern starting within a week lol.

Idk about storm chances but I will take actual winter temps
 
Man what id give to actually save these credit card points and score in my actual backyard for the first time since December of 2017, but I’m locked and loaded for the smokies if necessary.

What good is a good pattern if you don’t score any cold? It’s been cold basically since beginning of December.

I'm talking about some bonafide cold. It's been below average much of the month but no teens or single digits, highs in the 30s or below freezing, etc. I'd love to see below zero again but it's been decades and that may never happen again. Closest I've seen was 3 degrees (I think) back in 2013 or 14 with one of those fronts. Ceaser's Head has been below zero some. Anyway; if we can't see snow anymore, a good consolation would be some true cold.

Ways we can fail?

The obvious one is we just miss the finer details in the medium range and up being cold & dry.

The cold is going to show up in earnest here for the first time in at least 5-10 years in January. It’s a moisture question moreso

The transition between this pattern and the retraction could also be very quick and we don’t really get a truly good opportunity for a big dog.

Most likely I think something (even if it’s just a light event) is probably going to happen at some point & think our best chance to reel in the big fish is the 2nd-3rd week of January or so (Jan 8-21). I still have many questions about this pattern’s staying power beyond about MLK Day or so and think we’re going to see the Pacific Jet go in full retreat as we enter February.

Oth, we have a few of the right ingredients in place this year though (the background state that’s favorable for extensions and the +TNH interaction with the stratosphere), where we can buck the typical Nina trend of Feb torch or at least mute it like we did in 2013-14 for example. I still don’t think that’s likely to happen but I can see a way out
 
If it's like January or December 22 was here... The snow was very secondary to how cold it was. I mean yes it did snow for real for a couple hours but the arctic air really cut into the snow being a much bigger deal in both cases

That's the line we still haven't crossed since 2022 here. No big storm

Why? Do you like fixing burst pipes and playing outside in the cold? Do you like uprooting all your dead bushes in spring ?

I for the life of me can't understand why Anyone Would Want Freezing Cold weather! It wreaks havoc on everything! I can't help but think about the elderly that has to deal with that kind of weather.

I mean it's all relative. I have no interest in 40 below or upper midwest type cold for months on end. But a once in awhile, legitimate cold night or two and couple days below freezing isn't some crazy concept. Much of the country would laugh at that kind of cold anyway. We all have our things. Some people wish for heat and I can't imagine wanting more of that.

Nah I just want 65-70 year round
