Misc Cold Season Complaining

So is upstate North of 85 looking at All Snow or are there mixing with Sleet?
Depends on the model. Looks like right now the Euro is showing snow but there is almost no QPF. The GFS says there is no cold. The long range NAM says we have plenty of moisture but its all rain. So basically it will either be cold and dry or too warm and wet. So basically climo.

1/4 of an inch!!! BOOOMMMM!!!! Eat your heart out RDU, and the state of Virginia, and New Orleans, and Pensacola, and the Outer banks, and Charleston SC! JACKPOT!!! 😍🥰🤩🥳❄️☃️⛄
TBH... thats a good thing to see start popping up. If that can beef a bit (Ik its not the same) but in 2014 the wrap around ULL took me from 9-13" in like 3hrs. As well as @Myfrotho704_ said about DEC , I got 1.5" out of just a little band like that. Could take a meh 4.5 event to a cool 6 if youre lucky

One thing I think no one or maybe they have idk... has mentioned, how rare is a Pure Daylight event for us in general, much less late ish Feb. Pretty cool imo, I feel like 90% of events in my life have been while I was supposed to be asleep

Under normal circumstances, I definitely don't want a Daytime event late in the Winter. You're just asking for a lot of melting, but if temps are well below freezing then it's a different story.

Yes in the other big storm this winter here(which came out of nowhere btw) almost all the accumulating snow was after dark because temps were so borderline... That was over a month ago

Not gonna be borderline Tuesday

Even if its well below freezing, I imagine that the interstates and heavily traveled roads will be fine during the afternoon unless it's coming down really hard.

Give me a 4.5 inch event and I wouldn't even care about the wrap around! Unfortunately, this is about the only snow modeled for my area tonight.

In all honesty; I am sure it has happened, but I don't remember my area ever getting a deform band. They always seem to set up East or even SE of me.

We are talking about he ICON and RGEM here and I do not have a lot of confidence in either of those; so honestly I think there are still lots of possibilities on the table. I need a faster amp to negative tilt to take the late bloomer off the table, but of course Eastern folks would hate that.

so real. and personally, i WILL stay up til 3-4am to catch the best snowfall in live time because im a nerd like that, but getting a full daytime event feels very exciting

NEVER turn down a good wrap around ...

So how many more south shifts will there be? I was rooting for everyone North and East of me but now I'm on the edge on the latest GFS and it has left me wanting some more south shifts lol.

Man the GFS is getting close for Atlanta 👀View attachment 169879
Of course it is. Looking for any reason to completely detach from this and now this.

Great. That little nagging snowman in my brain just got the hope I didn’t want it to have. How am I supposed to adult with that noisy little ******!?

Yeah, I usually root for nighttime events for this reason and we’ve been fortunate in the last couple decades with this. But with BL temps as low as they will be this won’t be as much of an issue and so it’ll be cool to see the snow without needing lights!

Not going to lie that I’m a little worried about being fringed a little too far west on some of the modeling, particularly the Canadian suite. I feel good about getting snow, but a 1-3” fringe is certainly possible. Maybe I’m just paranoid. I guess every model run can’t show 6-10” like the Euro and ICON.

Now I gotta stay up for the Euro to keep my sanity lol

Same. That was a real disaster. Ugh. Just was not expecting to see that. It’s probably out to lunch, but I’d rather the envelope of possibilities not be that far out.

I'm tossing that UK run for now, way too big of a shift at such short of a lead time. If the Euro follows suit then it's whatever but I'm not buying that
