Not happening in the GSP to Charlotte area again.I’m just begging for it to prove me wrong and it refuses to do so lol. It shouldn’t be too much to ask for things to line up right at-least once every year. Having a 3 year stretch of no snow is just unreasonable. And sure we broke it with 2 mini dustings this year which also should have been much more, but I want a 4inch event every year for me to be happy. It’s very frustrating also for the past 3 years to hear about MJO, peak climo, etc and then we finally get those things to line up pretty well and still nothing. It literally takes nothing but pure luck around here.
It's not a false narrative, it's the truth. What is the false narrative of the Euro AI being better than other models?
This happens every single time it shows something people want. I thought we put that to bed when it lied to NC and gave the last system to Virginia instead.
In fact, that model gave me no snow and it snowed.
It's no better than the other models and the EPS is still the absolute best verification score wise, at this lead.
In fact. The AIFS doesn't even have an ensemble suite yet.
Literally nothing you said was accurate. AI does have ensembles, I posted it.What is the false narrative of the Euro AI being better than other models?

BumpGive me 2-3 inches of snow, sleet (concrete mix) with a topping of freezing rain to make it look like a winter wonderland - I’d absolutely be satisfied.

#contextUSDA FSA probationary worked for 9 months got let go last night without proper reasoning
It's disgusting...a terrible stretch for snow for sure. But guarantee through March we will continue to get half assed wedge 35 degrees and more rain...im ready for spring and have given up.Its not just GSP to CLT to RDU. AVL has only had 1.9 inches total in 3 years as well. They likely have more coming before April but the point remains. Everywhere east of the Apps has been in a real snow whole for years now. The eastern/coastal sections got lucky this year but that is one storm in however many years. The prevailing pattern has been trough in the middle of the country and areas between the Rockies and the Western side of the Apps have banked. For the first time in years we had sustained cold east of the Apps but only the same areas (VA and north) and the coastal sections scored. Waiting years for true cold, only to get skipped is pretty hard to swallow, which is why we see so many salty posts.
I think many people are truly wondering (me included) if this is the new normal or if there will be a shift to better eastern troughs and snow possibilities. At this point, who knows. My area just got over 4 inches of rain with temps in the 30's; it doesn't seem like it should be that hard to get good qpf with temps 6-10 degrees colder, but apparently it is.

Figured it was the complaining thread and I’m complaining because a lot of people lives have been hurt#context
I whole heartedly wish and hope you get the ice storm you crave, but 100x the amount you're expecting.Literally nothing you said was accurate. AI does have ensembles, I posted it.

Man I think every single poster in the upstate has completely given up on winter anymore except maybe two. And one of those has barely posted so we're losing him I think. That's ashamed because there are some very good posters here. Even when things are good they just know it's going to go sideways quick so they just sit it out. Hard to find any positives anymore this winter. It's disgusting...a terrible stretch for snow for sure. You had cell service up here? Impressive, and you should've dropped in at Don Juan's Mexican Restaurante in the RR, I would've treated you to lunch

I never give up. But im realistic and seen this song and dance many times in my 42 years just north of you. I know exactly what you mean and how you feel. I learned a long time ago to expect disappointment around here.Man I think every single poster in the upstate has completely given up on winter anymore except maybe two. This our new normal and it's only going to get warmer. In 10 years getting a freeze at GSP will be as hard as getting 4+ inches of snow now.Its not just GSP to CLT to RDU. Dude ... give it a rest already. You are obsessed. This our new normal and it's only going to get warmer. In 10 years getting a freeze at GSP will be as hard as getting 4+ inches of snow now.

You should go post it for them…Like 10 pages of Euro discussion on the mid-atlantic thread at americanwx... and no one has even mentioned the 18z Euro AI since it came out. lolz
So here’s a shot out of a cannon. We should develop a SWX app sort of like the Snapchat map app where you get real time videos/weather station data/forecasts from click point locations across the country (depending where your members are located). A social media type weather nerd platform. Think storm chasing but more personable and better. There are so many closet weather nerds out there it’s unbelievable. We could streamline it. There’s no reason this platform couldn’t be as big as any out there right now. We could find a way to “sell” shares in the company between members and raise money to boost the platform. We’ve already got some well known members in the weather world on here like Mitch for instance and there’s no telling how many more notorious members there are that haven’t chosen to disclose their identity. I’m sure there are a handful. Just a thought.

I’m a senior iOS developer. Have some UX/UI skills. Have thought about something like this before.
That's the biggest issue we face with anything from models to apps to everything else.I’m a senior iOS developer. Have some UX/UI skills. Have thought about something like this before.
There’s even been attempts in the past to cater to weather hobbyists. One of the devs at RadarScope cut his teeth on an app he imagined for storm chaser types (back in the golden age of indie apps).
A lot of moving parts on this idea. Not shooting it down, but it’s a big lift. Doubt it could be something anyone could do now if it’s anything beyond a labor of love. But maybe there’s some path to monetize somehow?
Social network type apps come with App Store hassles to.
I couldn’t dedicate a lot of time to helping, but I’d be interested in if there was anything I could help with. Even if just the experience of having done this for a decade and know how to get everything set up and through App Review.
