Misc Cold Season Complaining

Can’t believe I have to travel Tuesday to Austin for work. Going to miss the storm IMBY. Hopefully there will still be enough on the ground to enjoy when I get back Thursday night

I’m back and things look pretty good! Not going to be an all-snow storm, but beggars can’t be choosers! Just hoping for a couple inches of snow to go with the ice, haha!
 
RAH is taking time getting their long-range discussion out this afternoon. But their header/synopsis is very informative:

High pressure will move off the Northeast US coast today, as a
coastal warm front pushes inland into North Carolina. This warm
front will lift to our northwest tonight, then a cold front will
move west to east through the region Sunday. High pressure will
begin to build in from the northwest Sunday night into Tuesday. Our
next storm system will approach from the west and south Tuesday
night.

I wouldn't mind a 1"+ QPF total sleet storm. 4+" of sleet would be fun.
 
I guess the trends are not good. FFC says chances of Winter Weather has decreased:

The small probability of impactful winter weather on Wednesday in north Georgia has
continued to decrease, probs of >0.5" in 24 hrs <25%. Current likely
outcome is a brief wintry mix across far north Georgia and
widespread rain from the Atlanta Metro south.

Yeah, same. Kinda hurts to think what it could’ve been if it were snow, but I’m a beggar. I haven’t seen more than 3” of snow/sleet since Fab Feb 25, 2015. Later this month will be 10 years!!! Hope we can work some snow in on the front end. I don’t see how this doesn’t end up being a major storm of some sort for us unless QPF starts backing off. With 1” QPF, even if only 10% of that is snow and 50% is IP with the last 40% being ZR, that’s still 2-3” of “snow” with another 0.25-0.4” ZR. Quite a heavy hitting storm.

I am a little skeptical of some of the QPF numbers being spit out, though. It’s not often we see 1”+ during a winter storm here. Then again, we’ve been raining like cats and dogs lately here so maybe the atmosphere is primed.
 
Really need the EPS to back off the cold for my yard. Fingers crossed..
 
Wild week of weather coming up, winds in excess of 50mph with some isolated thunderstorms tomorrow (Rah even mentions some rotating cells possible) followed by significant winter storm, snow/sleet/freezing rain and the potential for a follow up system. What a week and why I love this hobby!

Sorry Shawn, we need you to have ZR to give me snow. Hopefully it’ll keep trending south to get you in the sleet.

I hope it stays right there in Virginia and keeps me at 37 and rain. GFS is promising.
 
I have a feeling some regional bias gonna start to come into play tonight … Tomm. It’s already happening all of us back around 77 and West praying for that Bomb … our Eastern neighbors lusting after that weak garbage sliding scenario

I’m rooting for a big paste bomb for whoever. No thanks for a light sleet event.
 
I mean we had 6 inches in January out of nowhere with no wind and no cold air. It was about as pleasant as snowstorms ever get here

There is zero chance Tuesday is better than that 🤣 even if it somehow snows more than 6 inches
 
Just realized NC State is @ UNC Weds night …. I’m sure wittle baby Hubie Davis will try to get the game postponed ….. Keatts on the other hand, will be there ready to take his beating like a man. Feet of snow or bone dry

Yea this one has given us the middle finger dam near every model run I've seen. I all but gave up on it days ago and read through today's trends. Was making it even more painfully close...but dam that euro run is juicy

It's all in good fun. I don't mean it it as an attack on you. You have a right to be pessimistic after the last 10-12 years.

I wish I had that kind of power!

I've just done this long enough to know you can't give up on any threat, because you really never know which one might happen to pan out in the end. 9 times out of 10 they don't, (even the best looking threats), but when they do, it makes it all worth it for me.
