I’m trying to move on to spring, and living with the new February normal… and the surprisingly accurate AIFS spits out stuff like this to keep me hanging on.

Nah, he'll keep checking in to tell everyone how bad everything looks and to stop checking in. Until there's a decent storm to track, then he'll check in to tell everyone how, said storm, won't happen. Then he'll check in again to tell......oh well, you get the picture.

I am just glad I can brag forever about model forecasting the storms popping up between the 9-15th, many days ago.
Who needs a met degree, when anyone can learn basic 500mb, climo, and common sense to forecast the weather. amirite?

I'm becoming convinced there's no reason to look at any other guidance except the Euro AI in the long range. It led the way with that cut off low this week when the GFS/Euro kept hinting at a CAD storm... it never wavered from what it was showing, which is exactly what played out.

If the Euro AI is correct, I will not ask for another flake this entire year (that includes next December). Can't believe that all other guidance is trending toward its' solution. Looks like we may have our top tier long range model.

The pattern this winter has been for something interesting to show up in the long range, and then end up verifying in some fashion later, so I'm kinda as all ears as I can be.

Burned too many times, probably not going to happen, 10+ days out, especially in February land. Haven’t caught up from the fun clown maps from last night. But that’s my first guess.

That 12z Euro AI run belongs in the all time fantasy folder. And it's inside of 200hrs, and it's been showing a similar evolution for several runs in a row now. If you aren't at least a little bit excited, I dunno what to tell you.

My excitement meter for a day 9 threat is pinging at about a 9 out of 10 right now... When the 00z GEFS/EPS/CMCE means come in showing multiple inches of snow tonight i'll be at 10/10.
Also, it's always nice to have great potential out past a threat to fall back on, and we absolutely have that going for us too. Good time to be a snow weenie.
